๐Ÿ Message from our Chairman ๐Ÿ
I would like to thank all those that helped to make last weekend a successful one, both on and off the pitch. On Saturday a few players turned up early to help get the ground ready and tidy the nets. Teas were covered as was the bar. At the end of the afternoon, we had 3 winning teams and another crazy happy hour.
On Sunday we had an under 11 game in the morning and hosted a ladies softball tournament in the afternoon. Again a number of volunteer...s and supporters were there to help and make it another good day with us able to field 3 Badger teams.
As always our regular volunteers were on overtime and as usual I cannot thank them enough. With the support that was given, it did ease their burden somewhat. I deliberately havenโ€™t mentioned anyone by name but you all know who you are. Any help is always appreciated.

Burton Latimer U15โ€™s vs Bowden U15โ€™s
Bowden won the toss and elected to bat first. On a wet outfield and dry wicket, Burton kept them down to 65 runs in their 16 overs. A great effort from Fin with his best performance this season from behind the stumps. Well done to Kian, Dan, Sam and Niall for all taking wickets. Burtonโ€™s bowlers all bowled to their field, which kept Bowden from setting a high scoring target.
... Burton chased the score down with 4 overs to spare and winning by 9 wickets. A strong performance from George who finished on 35* who built partnerships with both Leo (6) and Niall (9*).
Well done boys, we go again on Thursday and hope to get another win.

๐Ÿ 2nd XI Match Report ๐Ÿ
We made the short trip to the unbeaten table toppers Rushton on Saturday, with a few super stars missing. I lost the toss and they decided to let us bat first, ultimately this was the only duel Rushton would go on to win that day.
We got off to an electric start with Alan and Alex both positively contributing to the grand total at a rate of knots. At the fall of Alan for 27, Sven came in and continued to move the score along nicely. Alex eventually wen...t for 28 and Sven making 27. Up steps David "The Rock " Hood to help stabilize the innings and score a faultless 58* and set the base for the boom boom twins of Coleman and Brooks to despatch the ball to all parts, to help bring the total to 259 /7.
Message at tea was for a fast and positive start to the innings and it was very much deliverood, with Coleman removing their opener 2nd ball with a snick to Chis, who took it in front on 2nd slip. From that point on a superb dominating display of bowling kept us on top at all times and we never looked like losing.
Mike Wright 10-2-22-1 Josh Coleman 10-1-27-2 Will Brooks 9-0-37-0 Adam Boss making a pipe and slippers job of his 2โ€™s debut with 9-1-37-1 Sven Sartain 3-0-18-1
This all set the stage for Alan "The Industrial Cleaning Machine" Sewell to come in and mop up the rest with figures of 3.5-1-13-5. Rushton were all out for 165.
A fantastic team performance and on to the next game we go.

๐Ÿ Under 11โ€™s Match Report ๐Ÿ
Sunday morning saw our U11 take on a strong Kettering side at Burton. Kettering won the toss and elected to bowl. This proved a wise decision as Burton lost 9 wickets and were on a negative score until the last pairing of Callum (17) and Mason (7). Burton finished on 206.
It was then Ketteringโ€™s turn to bat and they made the most of no scoreboard pressure finishing on 245, which to be fair is not a massive score but it wasnโ€™t meant to be for us tod...ay. Kian was the pick of the bowlers with 3-0-10-3.
Well done to Kettering, although it was a bad day at the office for Burton who I would back to win this game more times than not.
Many thanks to Rachel for scoring. Kian for umpiring and helping out with the boys and Jeremy for taking the reigns in my absence. We will go again next week and I have every confidence that with this set of lads, this was a minor blip.

๐Ÿ3rd Team Match Report ๐Ÿ
Our return fixture against Stony Stratford 4thโ€™s was this week at home.
Thank you to Stony and all our spectators for standing with us for 60 seconds as a sign of respect for Pops, just a solitary woof from Roxy broke the silence, maybe that was her goodbye.
... Coin tossed up, Stony called heads and elected to bat. This week our two opening bowlers where out, Laksh on leave and the Boss drafted into the 2nds. So, Stevie and Kian started this game with the new ball, a maiden to start proceedings, then a run out from a determined chase to stop a two from Simon and some quick thinking from Kian to break the stumps, see their Captain and opening bat walking off for a second week in the same fashion without a run to his name.
Tidy bowling from Stevie and Kian see the visitors reduced to 36 for 4 wickets from the first 10 overs, another outstanding fielding performance from Sammy including a sharp catch at point, followed up by a sublime catch at 2nd slip by Michael kept the pressure on. Niall came into the attack with his first real spell of bowling for the team this season, he didnโ€™t disappoint by bagging 3 wickets. Finally, Sammy and Michael took the remaining wickets to reduce the visitors to a below par score of 107 from 34.1 overs.
Stevie. 7-2-19-2 Kian. 7-0-30-1 Niall. 10-2-26-3 Sammy 5-2-17-1 Michael 5.1-3-4-2
So once again the Grand Master along with Tyler started the run chase, only for Ian to be checkmated and game over in only a few moves. Once again a flurry of wickets see ourselves slump to 47 runs for 4 wickets from 12 overs, before Tyler and Marc steadied the ship with a stand of 41 runs to help steer us home.
A well-deserved 54 for Tyler in amongst a good bowling attack.
Good bowling, fielding and the right attitude on the day made a very good game. Well done lads! And finally, a mention for Darren for stepping in and umpiring for the afternoon. Thank you Darren.

๐Ÿ 1st XI Match Report ๐Ÿ
Saturday saw us make the short trip to Wellingborough. What was already an important game for us in the context of the league, was made even more important after hearing the saddening news on Saturday morning.
... I didnโ€™t need to say anything to the lads before the game, they all knew we had to do it for Pops and boy did they deliver.
We lost the toss and Iโ€™m grateful that I did. What looked an absolute road played completely the opposite; extremely rare for Wellingborough.
They stuck us in and we got off to a terrible start losing Aiden and Scott early, 2 for 2. Wads then fell, 38-3. I then came in to accompany David.
A fantastically patient innings from Shelford (70) carried us to the last over. Nick (23) and Odell (38) helped bump our score up to 191 all out, losing the tenth wicket on the last ball. A score that we had put about 20 runs above par on that wicket.
A wonderful team bowling display saw all 5 bowlers chip in with wickets. The pick of them being Wads (13-4-48-3) and Damo (3-0-20-3).
One particular highlight from the start of this season is how well we have fielded and this was once again backed up on Saturday.
Wellingborough were bowled out for 164, giving us a well-deserved 27 run victory.
A very fitting tribute to a wonderful man who will be unbelievably missed by all of us involved with the first team. A true gentleman that had plenty of time for everybody, we canโ€™t thank you enough for everything you done for us!
All of the team would like to send their love to Derek, Luke, Todd and all of the Styman family. We are all here for you through this tough time.
Rest easy Pops๐Ÿ’™

Burton Latimer 3rd XI - 213 for 6 Stony Stratford 4th XI - 81 all out
... A win for POPS.
After receiving the news that one of our clubs stalwarts had sadly passed away that morning, we travelled to Ostlers lane with heavy hearts for our third game of the season. Once again I asked George what to call on the toss of the coin? Tails as usual was the response but this time the queens head stared back at me. We were asked to bat.
The pensioner of the outfit showed why he opens the batting for us with a knock of 60. Marc Finch and Sven also added to the tally with 30 and 42 respectively to give us a very respectable score from our 40 overs.
Our fielding reaped rewards from the start with a run out thanks to a piece of sharp fielding by Sammy to remove one opener. The disciplined bowling of Laksh and Adam made sure that Stony could not score easily, their first boundary coming in the sixteenth over. The first change of bowling saw George come into action, taking a wicket in each of his first two overs and bowling a great line and length. The fall of wickets at regular intervals gave us our first win of the season.
A Boss 7-2-10-1 Laksh 10-2-22-2 George 5-0-17-3 Stevie 5-0-14-2 Sammy 3-0-5-1
Well done lads.

Burton Latimer U15โ€™s vs Rushton U15โ€™s
Rushton won the toss and elected to bat first. Some great fielding from Ben, George and Leo who all got a run out each. Kian, Ben, Bren and Sam all took wickets with Ben finishing with figures 4-0-7-2. Rushton finished 115 for 9 off 20 overs.
... Burton put a great effort into the chase and ended up 27 runs short. Strong performances with the bat from Bren 29 and Fin 21*, who made a 51 run partnership to try and keep the scoreboard ticking over.
Well done boys great effort all round.
