Butler & Co design and build unique wooden sailing boats of organic functional beauty on the shores of Old Mill Creek, Dartmouth, Devon. Ashley Butler's designs are inspired by the ergonomics, form and function of the historic working craft of the British Isles from the Industrial Revolution era, where the shape of the hull was intrinsically suited to the natural limbs of fine English Oak trees available. The speed, simplicity and seaworthiness follows their classic-yacht splendour of form, canvas under sail, the wonder of the material and craftsmanship, authentic joinery reminiscing of the Art and Crafts movement and balance of art and nature. At Old Mill Boatyard, Butler & Co also specialise in the recreation and restoration of vessels from our colourful maritime heritage. Traditional working vessels and classic yachts are transformed to their former beauty as artworks and memorials of living history. The Mayflower Class presents the opportunity to have a new wooden yacht hand crafted to the exceptionally high standards prevalent in the early 20th Century.
