Butterfly Art is a space to promote my art work and to share my inspiration of natural beauty. I have no formal art training so I hope to inspire others to take up a pencil or brush to have a go. Since I have been made redundant and have become a mother, I have used very small pockets of time to work on subjects that I find technically difficult but also beautiful and challenging.
I work in a variety of drawing and painting media and have a wide range of subjects, including portraits, honey jars, flowers, big cats, fish, birds and now soup! I have added photographs of some of my work so far and will keep this page updated with new work with photos as each work progresses. I am happy for you to contact this page with questions about art and to request prints.
Most of my art is in print and is displayed at local shows and galleries. Hence the name. . . the butterfly gallery relates to me not sticking to one subject or media, but flitting around to anything that makes me want to draw it.
I am planning to do more work in still life and life drawing and want to experiment more with pastels and oils. I finished the Indian Lady picture in coloured pencil last night and am just toying with starting either a glass bowl of lettuce, life drawing, a sunflower or a distressed landscape. . . I will let you know which wins chance to be drawn in the next few days.
