We’ve just returned from a wonderful tour of the Opera House. If you’re in Buxton, please don’t miss this treat.

User

Went to see Derren Brown last night AND tonight (29th & 30th) I know it's the same show but he's just amazing...and I wanted to see if I could figure anything out (no spoilers).

As for the venue it's absolutely gorgeous on the inside, seems to hold enough people for what it needs. The only downside to the place (I didn't use the toilets or any other facilities) is the parking but if you give yourself enough time prior to your show, you can easily find a parking space on the streets around and about it. Will definitely be coming here again!

User

Went to see Derren Brown last night (28th) the show as always from Derren was just phenomenal I'm still speechless to how he does what he does! The venue is absolutely stunning such beautiful architecture a real hidden gem in Buxton. The only downside was the lack of toilets in the Opera House but giving the age of the building that is totally understandable. I hope to visit you again very soon! X

User

We visited the Opera House on the 29th Aug ..and saw Derren Brown.

I was stunned by the beauty of this place! It's absolutely gorgeous. ALL staff were SO friendly..they're a credit to the place!

If you've never been..go!! I cannot recommend it highly enough...had one of the best best nights ever!!

Thank you,Buxton Opera House. You absolutely rock!!!

User

We took our children to see Mr Maker and the Shapes. The staff there were really kind and helpful and the building it truly beautiful. Even my 2 year old noticed the beauty of the building says wow and pointing at the various things. The toilets were very clean and tidy and it was just an all round nice experience. Many Thanks to staff for being so kind and helpful.

User

Visited Buxton Opera House during their Heritage weekend. What a treat! I stepped back in time. Absolutely stunning interior, perfectly preserved/restored/maintained. A real feast for the eyes and that's whilst it's not hosting a show! If you visit Buxton (which is beautiful) you must call into the Opera House for a wander, if permitted. Definitely returning to Buxton - one of the most beautiful places I've visited in the UK.

Saw West Side Story this afternoon, absolutely brilliant, really great dancing, singing and acting from a young cast.

User

Just seen The Little Match Girl. Not what I expected but an amazing show with a powerful message. Well worth seeing.

User

Just home from seeing West Side Story. What an absolutely amazing show from the finest talent in the region. My daughter and I were totally mesmerised from start to finish. I first saw West Side Story in Manchester as a teen and came to see Buxton's show for my 50th Birthday. This cast, the staging, the choreography, the dancing and voices outstripped my 'city' experience by far. Well done to all involved. Simply didn't want it to end ! x

User

I went to see Derren Brown last night. The show was awesome and without wanting to spoil it for others I am still trying to figure it out. The building is beautiful and it is a nice, intimate setting with a really good view from the stalls. There is an issue with getting to the toilet at half time as there aren't many and the aisles and corridors are a little narrow for the amount of people, however it is understandable with the age of the building. Parking was a little awkward but we found a space on the street without too much trouble, if going as a group it would be better to car share to save space. I would definitely recommend this venue and would visit here again.

User

I was lucky enough to experience my choice of show in the first row and it was amazing. Waiting for the toilet can be an issue as there is only 2 on the ground floor and one is a disabled but the staff are onboard all the way directing people upstairs. This is a very old building so I didn't mind the wait. It does have disabled accesss and plenty of staff to direct. There is a small bar downstairs, don't know about others but you can book an interval drink. It was easy to find and a lovely walk though the park, there is a popular pub across the road for a pre show drink. The whole experience was amazing and it was my first of many trips there even though I only traveled from belper. I really want to explore the theatre and the area more. Beautiful place.

Hi there

I know you have Steve Steinman's Vampires Rock: Ghost Train booked in November 2017 but I wondered if there was any discussion about getting a date booked in for #IconicTheShow next March/April/May time in 2018?

I know of at least 15 other fans beside myself that are desperately waiting for a date to go on sale so that we can order our tickets, get our costumes ready and "Make Our Day, Punk!"

Please let us know that there is at least some discussion between yourselves and Steve to get a date booked in, or if not, how many requests you have to get to consider the show?

Thanks!!!!!

Beautiful building in a lovely setting, the volunteer staff are so helpful, friendly and proud to be involved. The shows, acts & performances are 1st rate appealing to so many genres and tastes. Amazing! My husband, myself and 4 kids (of age 5 and under!) came to see Sleeping Beauty (matinee performance) on Saturday, we can’t rave about it enough! What a fantastic theatre! Brilliant seats! Awesome performance! Massive thanks for a fabulous afternoon!

User

very good thankyou got looking after me and my dad with the wheelchair you was top notch, please get the tcb band back please and also the mavericks they coming over uk again next week get them over and the tcb band we loved them.

User

Plus points; the performance - Rick Wakeman was fantastic (as always!), the acoustics and the intimacy of the venue.

The downside; the seats - bloody uncomfortable after 45 minutes, never mind 2 hours!, the lack of sufficient toilets, both male and female, and finally the price of drinks - £9 for 2 medium-sized (just) plastic cups of Merlot is ridiculous! At least water was 'only' a couple of quid.

So yes, a great venue but it could be even better!!

User

Saw John Cooper Clarke last night, which was great. It would have been much more enjoyable if I could have got comfortable. My seat was so bloody hard, my arse was numb throughout. On the way out, many people commented on how hard their seats were. I'm not going to be in any rush to go back here!
