When 4m just isn’t enough... go for an 8m extension. The Government just announced that the temporary option of “larger extensions” under Permitted Development Rights is to be made permanent...

I am delighted to confirm that we have not one but two schemes out of the shortlist of 16 in for the People’s Choice Award in the 2018 / 19 Waverley Borough Council Design Awards.
YOU CAN REGISTER YOUR VOTES HERE:

... In the last awards in 2016 we came second to a school extension but were the highest placed private new home. The PTA were very active and pushed for lots of votes… there’s a few school buildings in again this year so we’re in for a fight!
Both new houses were designed for private clients and are in Farnham. I’ve attached links below to our website if you want to see more images than are shown on the Waverley website:
https://www.bwparchitects.com/contemporar y-5500sqft-detach…/
This is the fourth on the list on the Waverley website. They ask you for a reason if you vote for this one; if you can’t think of one feel free to copy this “This house makes great use of the naturally sloping site and the stone ground floor allows the double height first floor living spaces to open up to the south facing views of the surrounding woodland.”

This is the last on the list on the Waverley website. They ask you for a reason if you vote for this one; if you can’t think of one feel free to copy this “This timber framed house is highly energy efficient but maintains a solid feeling through the tall stone front wall facing the road. The floating front projection shelters the entrance porch and provides a balcony to the master bedroom.”

Unfortunately, you can only vote for ONE of the schemes (one of ours please!) so please choose carefully!
Many thanks and fingers crossed…
PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SHARE THIS AND GET YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY TO ALL VOTE TOO!! EVERY VOTE COUNTS!
Thanks!

Waverley Borough Council have just announced that from April they are bringing in CIL at £452/sqm for sites over 10 units (£395/sqm for sites with less than ten new houses). They’ve just killed any hope of making developers build affordable homes...
For a three bedroom 1,800sqft home this will cost the developers £75,585 in a “planning tax”.
Developers already are allowed to avoid Affordable Homes within Waverley on new developments using “financial feasibility” as a reason ...why it can’t be incorporated; your Council have just given them extra ammunition not to build...
In fact, this will severely impact on all building of new homes in Waverley, not just “affordable homes”... That will have the obvious trickle down effect of stopping housing becoming available right across the spectrum of size and location.
Why would a developer choose to build in Waverley when they could build in Woking, Elmbridge, Cobham, Esther, Guildford for a fraction of the price?
Elmbridge CIL is £125/sqm so that three bedroom 1,800sqft house will cost a developer £55,000 LESS to build over the boarder...why would they build here then?
Sigh....

Another timber frame home started on site this month. With a traditional gamble roof, black timber cladding, clay tile roof and low brick plinth this new home for a private client has the appearance of a barn conversion and is sited next to Thursley Common on the edge of Witley, Surrey.
