Today is the longest day of the year, and Go Skateboarding Day! Whatever you do today make sure you stick four wheels under your feet at some point. If we’d realised earlier we would’ve done something in honour of it but hey at least we’re open. 4-6 & 6-8 all ages, and 8-10:30 age 20 and up. Next year it’s on a Sunday, who’s got some ideas for events? @alexsitaras dangerous nosegrind from the big one into the bank

On Saturday the 1st of June 26 young members of the skatepark took part in an all night challenge, to skate the park from 10pm until 8 the next morning.
We had an absolute blast through the night, the skating didn’t stop and everyone was a treat to hang out with. Most importantly they’d been gathering sponsorship from friends and family in the preceding weeks, and between them amassed an insane £3,301! As a charity funding like this is essential to allowing BYC to continue to... progress and provide for all its users. You’ll see the benefits this money brings over the coming weeks.
We want to say a massive thank you to everyone that took part and the over 200 people who donated in their names. We’re hoping to make this an annual thing, keep an eye out if you want to take part next time.
Here’s a few snaps from the night - check the rest out on the website. @ BYC Skatepark

Please consider passing on to someone you think may suit-
Starting Tuesday BYC is again delivering the Go Skate Project, a programme teaching skateboarding as a pathway for better mental health and wellbeing. We still have places free and we’d love to see them be put to use.
The course is in conjunction with and funded by Brighton & Hove Council, and is for young people aged 11 – 16 who identify as having issues with mental health, anxiety or depression. Information on how ...to join is on the poster above, and on our website. This will be the sixth Go Skate Project course that BYC and BHCC have put on. Our previous projects have been a great success in helping young people discover a new activity, gain confidence, challenge themselves and meet new people. Many have become regular visitors to the park since attending.
The course consists of six weekly lessons on Tuesdays from 4:15 – 5:15. It is free of charge for those who sign up! @ BYC Skatepark

We are sorry to have to say at late notice that we will not be open tonight for our 7-9 session. Any youth club regulars should know that Tuesday youth club is not running either. We appreciate it’s not the best day to close an indoor skatepark but it has to be done ☔️ 😞 We’ll be back open tomorrow. Our apologies!

Success! Last night 25 amazing skaters stuck it out for TEN HOURS overnight in our second All Night Skate fundraiser. Massive thank you to all of you for coming, and everyone who’s donated in their names so far. We’ll keep accepting donations until next Sunday, when we can see just how much they’ve managed to help us. But it’s looking very good so far. Thank you everyone ❤️

Our All Night Skate fundraiser is starting in one hour. 25 skaters have been killing it gathering donations over the last few weeks, now the hard bit of skating until 8am is about to begin. There’s still time to donate in their name if you’re feeling nice, head over to the website. Everything goes to helping BYC improve for everyone who comes here. Here’s last years contenders looking battered but not defeated after a long night. Good luck to everyone coming to take part!

@bfestbton’s annual Grind Designs exhibition is up on display. 18 decks hand designed by young members of BYC. Come check it out at Cultureground, an open exhibition space filled with artwork and photography by young people from around Brighton. Open for two more days, between 3 & 9pm. Also if any of our artists can remember who drew the boards second the left and on the far right on the top row, please remind us as they didn’t write their name on their work 🤔 @ Brighton youth Centre

We’re running extra sessions for three days next week for any lucky sods who are off school. Here’s a screen grab off our website as undeniable physical proof. Everything else is running as usual too, check the website for the full schedule.

Tonight is a rare occasion where sadly we have to close due to staff illness. The Tuesday 7-9 session will not be running this evening - please enjoy the late sunshine and we’ll be back to normal tomorrow. Big love to all of you ❤️
