The Byrne Black Belt Academy offers some of most progressive Martial Arts Instruction in the South West of England, they offer a blend of Karate, Sport Karate and Kickboxing in a fun and friendly educational programme, students learn Self reliance, respect and discipline.
Byrne Black Belt Academy provides a martial training platform and club environment that installs confidence, discipline, self-expression and both mental and physical strength in each individual. We provide a second to none club ethos that encourages families to interact and develop together whilst having fun and learning new skills. With current World, European and British Champions amongst our ranks you or your child are not only in safe hands, you have infinite scope to develop your skills to their maximum potential.
Our club caters for all and offers class structures to suit a wide range of goals. Our classes provide all of the health and fitness benefits associated with martial arts training as well as the integral life skills and increased mental capacity that come from the wealth of knowledge and character amongst our dedicated coaching team.
Our central aspiration is to always be Cornwall's most qualified, most innovative, passionate and inspirational Martial Arts organisation. We achieve this by being one team, genuine in nature and personal in manner. We are always ahead because we cater for the broadest spectrum of people and create a positive, nurturing environment for every individual to grow within at their own pace. Growth and development are always encouraged through weekly classes, as well as a continued series of events, including a grading programme, seminars, courses, charity challenges and competitions.
Byrne Black Belt Academy offer a powerful character education programme for Children.
We have one of the best Sport Karate Teams in the UK, Consistently winning major competitions, they compete at the highest level, competing Nationally and Internationally. At Present there are British, European and World Champions on the Team, we have produced 111 World Champions, the Team are also ranked No3. In Europe. In March 2017, the under 12 yrs team, beat 32 Countries to win the Wako World Cup Team Event at the World’s largest Sport Karate Competition “The Irish Open”.

Our history can be tracked back as far as 1974 when Master Ed Byrne started Bujinkai karate in Newquay, Cornwall - All the Instructors have instructors insurance and enhanced CRB, have all trained in Sport Karate and Kickboxing for at least 4 years before being trained as an Instructor.
