Thatβs the gloves cleaned and hanging to dry ready for the rest of the week ππ»β½οΈππ»
Tip: Always wash gloves between matches to get the best grip from the latex (especially in this weather) and never let the latex dry out completely ππ»
Great session working with the Purley Jubilee keepers.

Clips from tonightβs session. Charlotte has a Futsal tournament this weekend so I did a few drills based around movements in and around the goal with block saves.
1. Warm up moving from number to number, recovering back to a set position ready for low shots into the feet. Charlotte showing the scoop technique.
2. Same again but progressed to bouncing shots. Key to making sure the GK lets the ball bounce into the midriff or to take a step forward and attack the ball in a βWβ s...hape making sure the body is down the line of the ball. This also helps start any counter attack be moving forward.
3. Shots are coming in harder now for the scoop shape and smother. Palms facing forward and body weight going forward through the ball with the chest going over the ball securing into the midriff.
4. Working on reaction time with isolation on each leg. Sponge balls used to prevent injuries with repetition. Ball is served right and left of body for GK to react and push the ball out with foot. Iβm looking for a square foot to meet the line of the ball.
5. Progressing to working with arm and foot in sync each side. Serve is now mid height for the arm to block. The leg and arm should work together creating a large surface area to block.
6. Double saves. React to coaches call, cover ground across the goal, make sure your set for the shot in. Scoop technique required. Once the save has been made, rush to smother next ball with a block save. Some show Charlotte blocking narrow, as the drill progressed she began to spread wider with arms and legs sideways with head and chest forward (bravery), again sponge balls used to prevent any injuries from repetition. Great bravery shown diving forward pushing me out the way with the ball under control.
7. Out of position and recover back into set position for a fast drill shot in and around the feet. Using a block with the foot.

A great session this morning from George and Liam ππ»β½οΈππ»β«οΈπ΅βͺοΈ
There are lots of ways to help improve all aspects of goalkeeping when you only have yourself, a wall and a ball :-)
All washed and ready for the next session. Good little kick-about with the twins this morning.
Georgeβs first 1 to 1 session with CA Goalkeeper Coaching. George is a regular at the Purley Jubilee FC group sessions. Well done to George working on his low dives and distribution ππ»β½οΈππ»β«οΈπ΅βͺοΈ
