About C.A.B.I.N

Cabin is a charity and community organisation set up to create space and projects for people to reconnect with each other. We do this by allowing people to use their hands in the creation of useful items, made from natural materials, for the benefit of the local community. The benefits to local community members extend from mental health right through to being a site that enables local people to work together to contribute and improve the local community. Cabin will offer a joinery /woodworking workshop, for anyone to come and join at any time where they can be involved in projects to benefit the community. Guidance and support is offered at all times by our experienced workshop volunteers. Cabin will also run free-to-attend training courses for people to gain skills, training and experience in a chosen area. Since the pandemic it is more important than ever that people have the opportunity to have social connection and feel like a valued part of the community. Sadly, recent times have not allowed this and some peoples habits will have changed, particularly the vulnerable, isolated, lonely or aged person. Through lockdown we have learned to appreciate the simple things; a conversation with a friend, a chance to make or create something yourself. Cabin seeks to focus on this and create a space focussed on these activities for the people who need them most. Sometimes people just need space and an opportunity; these can be hard to come, and this is what Cabin will provide for the local community.
