User

Went today for a Mother's Day treat and obviously was very busy but couldn't fault the service at all. The food was all fresh and absolutely lovely. The staff were wonderful, efficient and very friendly. Would recommend and will go back. Thank you

User

User

We had a last minute requirement to provide some sweet treats for our team meeting, our office is just down the road from Café 1809. We gave our requirement the day before, and the café were most accommodating and whipped up a catch of the most amazing brownies for the meeting, the picture doesn’t do it justice! Passed on my thanks to Ros the chef, and recommend to anyone considering a catering requirement to see if the Café can accommodate. If not – I’d highly recommend to go into the café for some breakfast or lunch, have had some great fresh lunches there, always top quality produce and balanced, but if you want a sweet treat or a hot chocolate… they are great too!

Visited for the first time yesterday and i will definitely be going again. Lovely atmosphere, gorgeous array of food choices (including gluten free) and the most friendly staff. There were children playing outside at the back of the property. The large open window where we sat brought the outside in and vice versa. Huge comfy sofas by the said window gave it a real homely feel. All age groups were enjoying the hospitality on offer. I am not a local but i most definitely will be returning. The icing on the glorious cake was seeing Dame Kelly leaving with what looked like a take out lunch. Received a lovely nod, smile and a hello from her as i arrived. The whole ambience of the café is welcoming and relaxing. Highly recommend.

User

Thanks to the lovely waitress that let me use the other room yesterday to film a Monologue for my son that he was too shy to do in the main cafe area. Unfortunately just before filming we tried a berry smoothie each and it stained our lips and teeth dark purple, he looked slightly terrifying for his video - bloody good smoothie though 😀

User

Super friendly evocative, vivid, powerful and exciting to be there. Had a pretty amazing breakfast, then sat back and watched.

Cycling groups made regular stops to refuel and rest before they continued their journey, they were made up of all ages and all wore their club cycling colours.

It was just a great atmosphere with great (polite) people.

Breakfast: Amazing!!

User

Popped in Saturday afternoon looking for somewhere for a light snack. Wonderful friendly staff and lovely relaxed atmosphere. The food was good and the cakes looked amazing. I had to buy cake to takeaway for my children. I live in Eastbourne but will definately visit again when I'm in the area.

User

Loverly cafe, really nice atmosphere with great food and staff.

Also had the great pleasure to have a chat with Kelly herself this Christmas Eve . What a great lady and role model to us all.

User

It’s a fantastic Cafe, as a member of CC Bexley we visit 1809 regularly, we enjoy the atmosphere, good food and great coffee. We had the great pleasure in meeting Dame Kelly Holmes once in the Cafe, lovely person and happy to have a photo taken with us cyclist.

User

I always enjoy my visits....I live in London but will travel down when I fancy some nice food and a chill out. Great atmosphere, decor, food and obviously coffee. I usually leave with take out too .

User

Great cycling stop off. Great decor and friendly staff. I've been twice now and the food has been fantastic on both occasions. Had the healthy eggs option with halloumi then the brioche with cheese and onion - both very tasty! I highly recommend this great cafe!

User

Came here as part of an event organised by Specialised Cycles, but I would definitely come back again. Great hosts, lovely setting and food was amazing! I will be bringing my friend on a bike ride again just for an excuse to come here as it’s a long way from home for me! Would recommend.

User

Amazing food and staff were so attentive, will definitely be going back

User

A lovely place to visit. Good atmosphere with friendly helpful staff. There were a few people in when we arrived and more came in but we did not wait long for coffee and food.

User

Great ambience ... love the interior ... service a bit slow and portions a bit small for the price ... but good all the same ... will be back ..

User

Service wasn't consistent, ordered a regular cappuccino in a group of 6 chaps, after several times of asking where me coffee was had to go back to the counter to get after being told it would come to the table when ready, atmosphere fantastic service not so, arrived at 10:30 left at 11:30 after waiting 37mins for a coffee that takes around 3 mins to make

User

Not dog friendly, which is a shame as dog walking is also very good exercise. There is an outside patio area but no cover(not even an umbrella) so when it's tipping it down as it often does of late...sitting outside with rain on your food and coffee makes it an unpleasant experience! So won't be going there again unless someone takes my comments on board.

User

Cycled 22 miles to get to the cafe yesterday, having been recommended it by a friend. It was very quiet, being just between brunch and afternoon tea time. The two of us ordered drinks and lunch. Drinks came very quickly, and were fine. Patiently waited ages for the food, then we asked how long it would be. Found out that the food order hadn't been put through!

The manager was very apologetic and gave me a complimentary coffee.

When the food did arrive, some of it was missing, so had to enquire again. And this was all at a quiet time.

Gave a 3 star review as the meals were tasty and the staff were polite and apologetic, however I don't feel like recommending the place to my friends because of the mistakes.

User

Been swimming this morning and as my friend is visiting from Manchester for the weekend, thought we'd treat ourselves to a brunch. Found a table and after 10 minutes had to ask one of the guys to come and clear and wipe the table! Ordered food and drinks and food arrived without drinks!! Waited for drinks and when they finally arrive; what a disappointment. Ordered a Peanut Butter Jelly, which arrived very tasteless, watery and pink!! The picture on the menu is very different to what arrived. I discretely went to speak to one of the team, lovely guy, very helpful and said no problem they would be changed, thank you! Girl arrived (same girl delivered the first drinks) dumped them on the table and said nothing!) these drinks were purple, thick, gritty and all you could taste was cinnamon, still not one bit like the picture again. Couldn't be bothered to moan again, left them on the counter and left! The venue is lovely but really got the feeling it was a bit disorganised. One of the team had to ask the people sitting next to us what they had ordered! Real shame but for £20 doubt we'll be back!
