Cafe Cargo

What a pleasant surprise this was. Cafe Cargo is a real gem. 8 of us dropped by for dinner and it was the best of our week afloat. Rachel and Chad had only bought the place but new exactly how to please their customers. The beer recommendation was first class and the meat balls were to die for. Heartily recommended. And did I say the place was spotless...

What a lovely place! We called in around 5pm for our tea. Service was lovely and nice and friendly. The food was excellent. I was a little fussy and wanted to swap my chips for new potatoes and my fried eggs for poached and they did this no problem. The ice cream is definitely not to be missed! Bubblegum and pear drop are the best � we will definitely be calling in again.

Well, here's the thing. I called to ask if they could accommodate a party of three for afternoon tea. I explained that I was aware that 1:30pm is not normally a time for afternoon tea, but that is what I wanted. I had to look after my sister who was about to leave the country to marry her beloved abroad. I am not able to go and this would be the last time I would see her as I don't travel. Café Cargo were absolutely more than accommodating. They agreed to prepare the offering and on arrival a fab table in the conservatory was reserved. The selection was outstanding. Please, consider this as an option to indulge if you visit the café. Top star rating from me. �

We were canal boating on the L&L and needed a quick lunch so as to be in time for the hourly access to the Foulridge Tunnel. Delicious meal of our choice promptly served by helpful and pleasant staff. Bottled real ale available and I enjoyed a new brew for me..Rhubarb and Custard. Highly recommended. They truly deserve to be successful.

Thank you for accommodating about 15 of us, at such short notice, for an evening meal to celebrate my birthday. The food was lovely, service was great and the open mic night just finished off an impromptu family night fabulously, thank you. We will be back again soon �

Our daughter had her baby shower at Cafe Cargo and the staff were brilliant, they couldn’t do enough for you. The food was really good and there was plenty. Thank you all. M x

My wife and I recently went to the Psychic Night being hosted there. Lovely building, right next to the canal and away from the main road. The evening was exactly what we expected, a fun evening, with great food and reasonably priced drinks too. Would definitely recommend!

My wife and I enjoy both the company and the food. Whilst my wife has been ill the owners Racheal and David have fed me whilst she was in hospital for 5 weeks when they have seen me fading away !!!!!!!! The Sunday lunches are very good,breakfasts are excellent, soups and desserts are hard to beat and the setting in which to enjoy all this is beautiful

Love this place went yesterday to have afternoon tea for husbands 60th birthday which was lovely it came with a cup of soup which was a lovely twist to the norm .will be back soon ...thanks

Just been today for my sons leaving school party. I have to say it was very well organised everything set out ready. We had two kids turn up who I didn’t know about but they easily accommodated them.we had a gluten and dairy free who had a lovely looking meal and fab fruit salad for dessert, 5 stars would definitely book this place again

I just wanted to say thank you so much to Cafe Cargo for helping to make our day special. We had a family meal in the lovely room upstairs. The food was lovely and the service was great. We really enjoyed it and will be back to try the afternoon tea soon. Sonia and Frank xx

I came across this cafe by chance . It's in a stunning scenic area by Leeds Liverpool canal . I found the staff very helpful . The owner was there , very energetic and friendly . I chose a cafe cargo breakfast , nice food , filled me up and washed it down with a lovely .coffee. In fact I had two coffees and sat outside to watch the barge boats and people pass by . Nice relaxing place to go . I'll definitely go back in near future.

First time for me wide choice of meals open mic night to end a lovely night with family and friends what a little gem.

Fabulous service for a large group last minute booking on a bank holiday. The staff were very attentive and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble. Even brought a big box of toys for the little ones in the group. The food was great and prepared quickly given the large group size. A great menu offering dishes to suit all and even prepared a dish that was ordered but wasn't on the menu. A separate menu for the children with a good range of options. Highly recommended and already looking forward to our next visit.

A friend and I took my dog for a walk on the canal towpath and then went for an Americano at Cafe Cargo. The surroundings were pleasant as was the atmosphere.

Service was polite and efficient. The waitress brought the coffees over and we spent awhile chatting. The dog was welcome with water provided.

Shall make this our meeting place and get some food as well.

Food was good, enjoyed my time there, will go back again. The only criticism is that the waitress need for urgency was a little missing.

As a well travelled person I can say that I am in a good position to be able to compare.
