Pavements or Business!
This has taken all my courage and strength to sadly inform all my dear customers that Café C’est La Vie has had to close its doors, the keys were handed back to The Borough Council yesterday. Sadly, I was really given no option, a victim to extreme high business rates and increased rent meant I could no longer sustain the high standard of service and quality food served at a favorable price point competitive to other business.
Café Cest la Vie, was a ve...nture I went into full hearted two and half years ago, it was with my own investment; I was given no grant or loan. Initially, I was up against opposition and I fought hard to convince the Borough Council that not only could I turn what was a dreary building into a beautiful place to meet, but also bring some character to the street rather than simply replacing the empty unit, (Chance Leatherwoods) with a betting /pound or charity shop. I also strongly supported this by instigating we could make St Giles Street the food and independent hub of Northampton and generate greater footfall.
My passion was to offer simple homemade French cuisine prepared and made on the premises, not a single microwave to be found and an honest open kitchen for us to gauge real feedback from our customers. And first and foremost offering our customers (some now very close friends) the ultimate café experience. We have celebrated, weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, you name it all memorable experiences. We also take great pride in being voted 10/10 for our acclaimed Champagne High Teas.
The Facebook page will remain open as I understand there are High tea vouchers that have been purchased as gifts and would like to make contact to make a refunds. Sadly, we had many enquiries and bookings for Mother’s Day, our best to date and it deeply saddens me that we are not open ...However The Good Loaf have offered to take over these bookings if you so wish, please contact them directly.

Dear customers we have to say goodbye to one of our dear customers today ...due to ongoing staffing issues we had to close sincere apologies. So we are calling it Sheila's Day a very strong warm and one of the kindest customer we we got to know snd treated as a dear friend ...we will miss her dearly ....
