We were visiting Canterbury this weekend and decided to try this lovely place as we love Mexican food. The food was amazing, the waitress really attentive and what a great atmosphere! Totally recommend it ÔøΩ thank you for such scrummy food!!

My family and I have been coming here for my whole life and it is still my favourite Mexican. The French owners and staff are very welcoming and its great to see a small family run business be so successful. I recommend the fajitas and a lime margarita!

Lovely meal tonight in Cafe Des Amis. I am on a diet at the moment and the lovely chef made me a delicious salad alongside the steak fajitas that the others were having. I helped myself to steak strips, salsa and refried beans which all ticked my Slimming World box. Very appreciative, great service!

Had an amazing meal here for my boyfriend's birthday. The food was really really good, cocktails were also great. The staffs are very friendly and accommodating. Thank you, Cafe de Amis team for making my boyfriend's birthday special and for singing Happy Birthday for him. We will be back!

Couldn't fault it, arrived on time for our table was met by a waitress very quickly once we'd ordered our food came very quickly. It was lovely. Great dining experience.

Consistently great food and service... not to mention a good margarita. One of my standbys in Canterbury... gets quite busy, so if you haven’t booked, you might not get in.

As an irregular visitor to Cafe des Amis, I have a history of eating here. It’s always an enjoyable, but yesterday was the best experience, the food is always good the staff were attentive, helpful and above all enthusiastic to ensure all went well, which it certainly did. Well done to all the staff great meal.

A Mexican restaurant with a French name? Evidently the locals aren’t confused in their expectations since the place was packed on a Saturday night.

The characterful ambience, walls littered with entertaining but overpriced papier-mâché artwork based on the Mexican Day of the Dead �, helps create a buzz. In spite of the packed and packed in tables, service is keen, prompt and friendly.

Like the art, food is not especially cheap, but it is beautifully constructed, perfectly cooked and accessorised, and plentiful. The £34-for-two steak fajitas did not arrive sizzling, nor especially warm, but the steak was correctly medium rare and came as a large pile of sliced meat with a stupendous collection of fixings (including a splendid chunky guacamole, tomato salsa and black beans)to go in the Chinese pancake-style soft tortillas. Alas my son polished off his burrito � and pineapple salsa very rapidly, and began helping us eat the fajitas.

Shame we didn’t try the margaritas or wide range of tequilas, but I was driving and my party came out in sympathy.

All told, a very positive experience, on which the three of us were happy to agree.

My husband and I used to visit Cafe Des Amis regularly around 20 years ago x this is our first visit after all that time and we enjoyed the food and atmosphere as much as we did all those years ago x the staff were amazing
