About Caffeine & Co

Longford Park's new family cafe serving real bread, slow food and great coffee now open.

Caffeine & Co Description

We have three locations in Manchester. They're at Manchester Science Park, Old Granada Studios on Atherton Street and at Longford Park, Stretford.
We've just opened up our first Leeds shop too, on the Leeds Dock.
Everything we sell we make ourselves in our kitchen and bakery. We bake everything fresh from loaves of bread to cakes and biscuits, and serve great coffee too. Our menu changes every week also.
A truly independent coffee shop.

There’s a post of the Longford Cafe FB page about some menu changes and the return of the Toasties to the menu. This page will be taken down shortly so please make your way to the Longford page.
Thank you.

We know we said Tuesday and it was looking good for Tuesday at that point, which was a miracle because that was the date we had aimed at all along and that NEVER happens, because something small always goes wrong. And guess what....
The something here is that the furniture is held up, damn those craftsmen making things by hand - we should have gone to Ikea.
Thank you so much for the comments and likes to our 'comeback' post on Thursday. You may surprised to find out how thin... skinned we are and to feel that level of support is really special.
We will post menus, interior shots, etc over the next few days.
One last question. Is there anything that you would love to see on the menu or offered in the new cafe? So far we have requests for oat milk and vegan Full English.
I'll start us off. I'd like hand cut home cured bacon!

LONGFORD ‚Äď A new caf√© for Longford Park - NEXT WEEK!!!
This week, we’re really pleased to announce that our café in Longford Park will be opening on Tuesday March 27.
We have a new name, Longford. We’ve also smartened the old place up and added 20 more seats inside and more tables outside. But perhaps even more exciting will be our new menu with an all-day brunch offering for all you Easter Weekend walkers and any other fan of Longford Park. Overall the savoury menu will mirr...or that of our new sister café/bakery/restaurant fusion, Blanchflower in Altrincham with more breads, pastries every day, a choice of hot dishes and so on. You can checkout Blanchflower’s menu at www.blanchflower.co. Whilst we think Caffeine and Co set a high standard, we believe you are going to find the new menu far tastier.
The Blanchflower bakery will supply Longford with fresh sourdough loaves for sale as well as all the cakes and biscuits that have been such a hit over the last few years. Our younger Longford fans will have treats available just for them. And lets not forgot one of our favourite signature dishes, the sausage rolls. These will be exclusive to the menu at Longford.
Along with the opening of Longford, we will be creating new dedicated social channels and although this Caffeine and Co Facebook page will be available in the short term, it will cease being active shortly so please jump over to Longford Cafe FB page (see below). We will also let you know when our new website www.longford.cafe and the Instagram page go live.
Keep an eye out for daily messages about the new look and products.
We look forward to seeing you soon.

FIRST DINNER REVIEWS AND OPENING HOURS UPDATES So the first weekend went very well and we got very nice 'first look' review on Manchester Wire https://manchesterwire.co.uk/… In her piece, Ruth Allen makes a very flattering comparison saying 'the cooking reminds me of a less formal version of London's Portland'. That's very kind as Portland has 1 Michelin star. Customer reviews btw were all 5* Definite opening hours for dinner until Spring are -... Thursday until 10 and Friday and Saturday until 11. We are also open with a special menu on Valentine's Day. Also, the snack menu will start immediately lunch finishes on those days. We will extend the 50% off soft opening through this weekend (8, 9, 10 Feb). We will post that separately and look out for the Valentine's Menu.

DINNER AT BLANCHFLOWER, THE SOFT OPENING 50% OFF FOOD FOR SEVEN DAYS We gave three tables away to Longford customers for last night's run through and it went extremely well. This dish of rare cured beef and slow cooked egg yolk was a particular smash. We would love you to come and see what we are up to and we have a half price offer from Thursday Feb 1 to next Wednesday (note we don't open in the evening on Sunday, or at all on Monday). We will be using Open Table for reser...vations, but that will be installed next week so its walk up but you can contact us through this page to reserve a table, or call 0161 929 6724. It's a great opportunity to eat some really excellent food for the price of a fairly average plate of food. Hopefully we will see you through the week.

WE HAVE 3 WINNERS.
We counted the messages and then allocated each entry a number in the order that they were received and then used a random number generator webpage to pick three winners.
They are ..... (drum roll)
... Anna Thompson - table for 2
Anna Fryer - table for 4
Terri Mattingley - table for 2.
The small print is that there will be 4 courses and they free of charge, as will be an aperitif/glass of prosecco to get the night started. You will need to pay for any more drinks.
We would not be hosting the event on Tuesday without the ongoing support of our customers from Longford Park so if any other entrant wishes to come and have dinner before the end of Feb we will discount their food bill by 50%. Let us know via this Facebook page.
I will message this again tomorrow.

That was quite a reaction to yesterday's post. To whet your appetite here's one of the dishes that you could have to start your meal. It's Home Smoked Salmon w Pickled Cucumber and Brown Butter Mayo. If you wish to put your name forward for a table there is still time (pop your name down below). We will pick winners on Sunday.

The time has come to bring the curtain down on the current incarnation of the café and the Caffeine and Co brand and so we will close the café after service on Longford Park on Sunday Jan 7. It looks like it may be a lovely day so hopefully it will be busy for us to say goodbye (for a while) to as many of you as possible.
The plan to refurbish the caf√© during this winter has been in place for a while. When the caf√© re-opens it will with a new interior, with tables where the b...aking used to take place, all new furniture throughout and it will be re-decorated both inside and out. It will also have a new name ‚Äď but more of that later.
The big thinking behind our plans is that the caf√© needs to take the next step forward in order to keep improving. We felt that once the bakery moved it was time to re-think and re-design the caf√©. We are very lucky to have the location that we do and we appreciate that we provide a service to park users but that should not blunt our creativity or desire to do new exciting things. Indeed, had we solely provided what park cafes traditionally do, then we would not have made the coffee we make or baked bread ‚Äď we did those things solely because we liked it better that way and thought you would like it too.
We will expand the food menu, while keeping the bits that we are happy with in place: coffee, bread, cake and pastry. We will update you with the new menus at a later date but we definitely see an expanded brunch menu as a central part of this and weekend evening opening during the peak summer months.
The café should re-open in March, so apologies about the Feb half term.
Hopefully we will see you on Sunday (or before). Beyond that we will use this Facebook page to communicate about what is going on and when.
Finally, thanks for the boy in the picture and the Mum that allowed him to be photographed. Of all the things we have done over the last 4 years probably none has had the impact of the 'kid's biscuit' and it seemed an appropriate image to accompany this post.
Thanks for all your support. We will see you again soon.

WE ARE OPEN AGAIN. Mushroom Soup w Wild Mushroom Bruschetta on this weekend. Also some rare beef for sandwiches- a 3 day cure and overnight in the sous vide. It’s very nice in our humble opinion.

User

WE WILL BE CLOSED AGAIN TOMORROW (TUESDAY 12th) AND WEDNESDAY (13th) A thousand more apologies but we have two staff sick and that make it impossible for us to open the cafe. We think it’s best to give them plenty of time to recover and as it is a rainy day on Wednesday we will stay closed until Thursday. Please pass this message on if you have friends who you think may be popping in but don’t follow this page.

WE WILL BE CLOSED TOMORROW (MONDAY DEC 11). A thousand apologies but we have staff illnesses that make it impossible for us to open the cafe. It’s a shame because it looks like a dry, sunny day. We will return on Tuesday.

User

Here's a piece that ran last week about our new place in Altrincham, where we open Wednesday. You will start to see the new products starting to flow through this week. We will keep you informed through this page, but if you want to follow the Blanchflower page then we would love that.

THE LAST LOAF HAS COME OUT OF THE LONGFORD OVEN.
This week, our bakery is moving to its new home in Altrincham. It’s the beginning of a new chapter and there will be significant benefits for our customers in the Park.
Where the bakery used to live, on the left side of the café will now be given over to tables and around 20 extra chairs, which will be especially welcomed in the colder months.
... Added to that, in 2018 we’re planning on giving the café a lot of TLC with a full refurbishment. As we have got busier over the last few years, we’ve figured out ways in which we can better utilise the space better. We will share plans when we get further along with them - but off the top of our heads, we’re getting excited thinking about a bigger and self-contained kitchen area and a smaller bar to allow for more seats.
Blanchflower Bakery & Kitchen, our new bakery/café in Altrincham will allow us to make even more delicious dishes so the range at Longford will grow. More breads, pastries every day, a choice of hot dishes and so on.
Back here at Longford, we are currently thinking we will make pizza and ice cream on site and open into those balmy summer evenings we have four or five of each year. Happy days ;-)

The service was great, the coffee was excellent and the food look fantastic, deafly be going back for lunch

Our Saturday morning hide out while our girls go dancing and our boys play in the park! Customer service is second to none and the food is to die for. Thank you!

User

Nice food excellent tea and nice staff too.

User

My favorite brunch place when I was staying in Manchester. Lovely people, awesome ambiance and good food.

User

Lovely coffee (cooler than most places served but myself and husband both commented it was the perfect temp to drink and tasted fabulous). Also cannot come to your cafe without taking home a slice of the salted caramel slice and brownie! The whole place smells of brownie when I walk in, it's impossible to resist! Any chance you'd share the recipes?

Had lunch for first time today and was so nice to see something different, very much enjoyed the tuna/pesto and the ham/chutney sandwiches.

User

I was completely surprised when we visited Longford Park today. What a little gem this place is. Our food was delicious and the cake selection was awesome. Will definitely be back to sample some more.

User

I love this cafe - which is my local. Coffee is outstanding - honestly my favorite anywhere. Food is delicious and fresh. It's not your typical park cafe and doesn't suit you if you want cheap and cheerful instant coffee but suits me fine. In answer to some earlier reviews it did used to be slow BUT this has massively improved in recent months. Or whole family are regulars.

User

I had an exceptional flat white, the others in the group had fine looking cappuccinos, on site baked bread for the sandwiches and epic cakes! Really great cafe, tasty food and a lovely park.

User

Hi, after all the Jazz on Chorlton page about long waits and cold coffee I thought I'd give it a go. Went in friendly staff fast service (it was very quiet due to rain though) but literally the best coffee I've had outside Melbourne! Amazing. Only thing I'll say is size of the cup points towards a flat white more than a latte to me. If you want to keep the people who ain't coffee snobs like me happy give a bigger cup with more milk in for a latte and keep the smaller cups for a flat white. Keep up the good work.

User

Friendly & delicious.. with a great view of the park ÔŅĹ

Fantastic little cafe. Great staff. Geat food. Love it andissing it. Val and phoebe.

Another great lunch at Caffeine &Co! Had the quiche today and it was served with a great salad and sourdough bread. I like the hustle and bustle of the place and always a great atmosphere and cheerful staff.

User

Absolutely wonderful. Beautiful location, the food was delicious, lovely service who were incredibly helpful and polite. I'm running out of adjectives. Fab.

A man was offered me a cup of tea on the house while I couldn't find a Vet Nurse at Longford Park. He was calling on behalf of me to find the location with Vet Nurse due to my deafness. Thank you so much for the lovely cup of tea which I enjoyed. Next time we will come over for coffee or something.

User

Great place for lunch. Fresh food, friendly staff and fabulous cakes. The staff are helpful and bend over backwards to assist. My only complaint is still no card machine (come on guys you are missing out on business) and the option of a larger coffee would be nice!

User

Bit disappointed 1'st visit yesterday ten mins queuing behind 2 people this seemed to be due to a lack of training, confidence and communication between the staff. There was a long conversation about whose coffees had been served. Then told hot food had not been "delivered "yet? Also no ham for the kids meal so went away with 2 biscuits and ended up going elsewhere for lunch. The value seems good but more training is needed.

User

Usually it's great but today I sent the food back as it looked under cooked. Was told it was cooked and they would not give it any longer. Left without my breakfast and without a refund. Pretty poor.

User

Poor show unfortunately.. Warm welcome but the food was a huge let down. Ordered Latte and tea with two Jerk chicken & mayo sandwiches. Latte was presented beautifully and tasted just as good but only 4 sips to the bottom. The tea was nice no issues there enough for two descent brews. Sandwiches were served on a beautiful choice of baguette with fresh salad leaves but had no butter/margarine and a sparing amount of Mayonnaise. This didn't help the chicken which had never seen Jerk before. My partner had asked for cheese on her sandwich which seemed like a bit of a shock request and became a replacement for Mayonnaise which we couldn't find when searching.
