The Father who challenged Schedule 7 in court!
Khalid, a hard working husband and father, lives his life between Europe, where his family is and the UK. He therefore frequently needs to come in and out the country. In one of his regular trips he was stopped under Schedule 7. He was asked about the reason for his journey, what he was up to abroad and where he stayed. The questions moved on to his political and religious beliefs and in particular what his thoughts are on the Su...nni-Shia divide.
This wasn’t the first stop Khalid had to endure. What made this time different, was that his wife and children were with him and they were left waiting alone for hours without any explanation. His children were fearful and anxious over what may happen to their father.
Khalid was initially apprehensive about what may happen to him following this stop. However he was determined to not allow this to stop him living his life normally. Khalid even decided to legally challenge the police for stopping him, and despite not winning his case, his courageous stance is an example of how we should always challenge injustice.

All she wanted was to raise her children in peace
Khadija is a loving mother of two. Her husband was arrested and her home raided one day. It was difficult for her and children to experience this. All of their electronics where taken, which today means you are left totally in the dark. Khadija was also arrested thereafter and put on bail. The police even imposed a curfew on her. After months of worry her case was dropped, she didn’t have anything to answer for after all. At ...this point Prevent appeared. Khadija was asked to take part in the Channel de-radicalisation programme. She declined because she didn’t know much about it. Nevertheless the police proceeded to refer her children to Channel. Khadija was not told about this and neither was she told that this programme was voluntary. It was only when a health worker was carrying out a routine assessment on her children was she told about this referral. It was a shock to Khadija. This added a layer of scrutiny and stigma, following her husband’s arrest, was something she was not in need of. Khadija just wanted to raise her two young children in peace.

I can't understand why an organisation that I have at heart and respect so much like CAGE hasn't said anything about the Libyan slave crisis or the treatment of black Africans even when many of them are muslims!
