About Caius Politics Society

Gonville and Caius Politics Society was established in Michaelmas 2007 by Gabriel Byng and Kinley Salmon to provide a welcoming, interactive and free resource for Caius students and the wider university to discuss and learn about politics. Since then we have hosted speakers from Lord Falconer to Michael Howard, run the innovative ‘Caius Question Time', worked with Caius Films and CUCA, and been featured in TCS and the Berry. Running events in affiliation with other societies both within Caius and outside, is something we continually look to do to further our outreach and capacity to hold events. Our biggest event had an audience of 140 and Lord Falconer said of us "I am sure with so well-oiled a machine Caius Politics Society will become the organisation of choice by which politicians communicate with Cambridge University". Recent events have included a talk by senior Liberal Democrat MP and Business Secretary, Vince Cable; and a talk on the USA's China policy by Dr Kun-Chin Lin, a Caius fellow. We are non-partisan and ALL OUR EVENTS ARE FREE TO ALL. ---------- --Caius Politics was re-formed in the 2017 academic year after a hiatus of several years. The society has gone from strength to strength since then, with several well attended and informative events. We were proud to host two Caians: Keith Vaz MP, and Ken Clarke MP in the Lent of 2017. With a new committee recently elected, the growth looks set to continue in through 2018 and into the coming years.
