Callow Hall Country House Hotel

Beautiful moon last night. We were Just leaving Callow Hall and took a little stroll in the grounds. Stunning.

The children from Rowsley School had their 1st visit after their triumph at the #RHSChatsworth flower show. They harvested some of the salad and vegetables they had grown in the gardens at our sister hotel, #Eastlodgehotel Rowsley. They also enjoyed checking out The Chefs Table and were excited at the idea of a tasting menu while watching the chefs cook.

Simon has been watering the fresh plants which he has just put into the big tubs at the front of the hotel. They look lovely. I’m enjoying sitting here with a very nice cup of peppermint tea enjoying the view across the fields. Then I’m going back to our sister hotel #Eastlodgehotel Rowsley to enjoy the gardens there.

A Beautiful evening. Perfect weather conditions for the lucky people enjoying a Balloon trip. Their flight over the #Derbyshirepeakdistrict must have been stunning. This photo was taken at the front of the hotel. There is seating all around the grounds at Callow Hall and also at our sister hotel #EastLodgeHotel, Rowsley. This means guests can relax and enjoy the lovely views. A walk through the Secret Garden maybe, and a glass of wine sounds like a plan😉

So excited. For those who saw our post about our sister hotel #Eastlodgehotel and Rowsley Primary Schools entry to #RHSChatsworth . The news is we won. We do hope that our guests have enjoyed their visits to the show. It’s super and we look forward to next year.

Update on the Rowsley C of E Primary School entry to #RHSChatsworth flower show. So last night I worked at our sister hotel #Eastlodgehotel Rowsley and took a little walk and a film before dinner started. Today I’m here at Callow Hall and just took a walk in The Secret Garden. Beautiful. Our lovely wedding guests from yesterday were all very happy. So we’re now all prepared for today’s lunch and afternoon tea guests. #bookdirect it’s always best

Sadly we couldn’t stay the night as the hotel was full, so we made our way home to our sister hotel, #Eastlodgehotel Rowsley. We stopped on the way home from Callow Hall to our sister hotel #EastLodgeHotel at Rowsley. Just had to take a photograph of the beautiful sunset. There were also some other spectators but I don’t think they were looking at the sunset. This is about halfway between the two hotels. So not a bad commute. #bookdirect it’s always best

We collected the beautiful, new hanging baskets for the hotel and our sister hotel #EastLodgeHotel Rowsley from #forestgardencentre at Darley Dale. The car was packed full with fresh bedding plants and the smell was wonderful. When we arrived at Callow Hall Simon was waiting to “work his magic”(with the help of chef) and hung them up in the Wedding Pavilion. The gardens and grounds are looking lovely with the tubs starting to be filled with brightly coloured summer plants. We have weddings this weekend so all must be ready. #bookdirect it’s always best

Looking back a couple of months I found this photo I took while walking in the Woodlands above the hotel. Callow Hall is such a beautiful building from wherever you look at it. I particularly like the clocktower with it’s ship weather vane. Seems strange to have a sailing ship so far from the sea. However, maybe it has something to do with the original family that built Callow Hall in approximately 1848. They owned a factory making corsets. Perhaps they also had an interest in sailing ships to bring the Materials needed for manufacture and to take their products abroad. Apparently at the time it was built it was known locally as “corset castle”. I wonder whether it made the owner “uptight”?😂😂

Sadly The #Dambusters couldn’t do their run over The Dams today. However, these two did fly over our sister hotel #Eastlodgehotel Rowsley a few moments ago. At least it marks the occasion. Whose first to tell me what they are then?😉

Our sister hotel #Eastlodgehotel in Rowsley, near Bakewell, are again enjoying welcoming the children from Rowsley school year 6. Our gardening project with them has been going on for some years now and last year and again this year we have been picked to enter an exhibit into The #RHSChatsworth flower show. Yesterday‘s visit was the painting and preparing of their display. The theme this year is green recycling planters. Callow Hall is approximately 25 minutes away from #Chatsworthhouse and East Lodge hotel is just over 2 miles. Perfect bases for your #Derbyshirepeakdistrict breaks #bookdirect it’s always best

A Tranquil walk through the beautiful bluebell woods above the hotel is always a pleasure no matter what the weather. We’ve worked hard to develop the paths and bring back the lovely natural plants. It’s certainly been worth it as these photos show. Come and wander through The Secret Garden and up through the woods. There’s benches to rest and take in the view. Then relax and have a delicious afternoon tea or dinner. Elegant bedrooms with comfortable beds are also available. ...#Bookdirect it’s always best

To prove that there is light at the end of the tunnel.😂We left Callow Hall and decided to do a detour on our way back to #EastLodgeHotel (our sister hotel) in Rowsley. There are many old railway lines around Derbyshire that are used for walking and biking. However, some of it you can drive down. So many great places to visit. #bookdirect it’s always best

We had some vouchers given us for a Christmas present. So we booked in for Sunday lunch yesterday. What can I say a beautiful house in lovely settings just off Ashbourne town. The staff were attentive, the food salmon for starters, pork dinner & sweet was fabulous and our table looked out into the garden & the views beyond. We then had coffee in the lounge, what a chilling way to spend Sunday afternoon. Would we visit again, most DEFINITELY! Thank you �

We had our wedding recently at Callow Hall and I must say they did an absolutely fantastic job. We agreed what we wanted for the day and they were flexible and very easy to work with. On the day, they just got on with it and we never had to worry or be asked for anything - it just all happened perfectly and as planned. It is also such a lovely setting and combined with the perfect rooms and food it made for such a memorable day. Much thanks to Cara and the team.

We had our Wedding at Callow Hall on the 27th January 2017. Wow what a fabulous day we had. I can't say enough good things about the venue food and the staff. It was well planned everything went off as it should and the food was fantastic. If you are looking for stunning views food accommodation and fantastic staff you won't find a better place to visit or have a wedding. Cara who is the Manager is fantastic and we were so impressed with how she Managed our day very impressive and how hard the staff worked. Many Thanks Mr and Mrs Dawson.

We attended a wedding last weekend and the hotel was a perfect venue.

Everybody there was fantastic and tried so hard to make our stay as comfortable as possible and to make the occasion one to be remembered.

We are still receiving compliments on the venue of our wedding, and will forever hold fond memories of the day. Everything was absolutely beautiful, and all the staff were very attentive and very kind. Callow Hall is really privileged to have some really lovely staff members.

Canapés and drinks were served in the Secret Garden which was a beautiful way to welcome everyone. The marquee was decorated beautifully, with even the smallest detail taken into consideration. Staying overnight with some of our guests, waking up to stunning views of Derbyshire and a huge breakfast selection was a lovely treat. And the exclusivity of the venue made everything even more special!

My sister has just had here wedding here and it was amazing. It's such a beautiful place and location and nothing was too much trouble for the lovely friendly staff. They were very accommodating and flexible and did everything that they could to help make the day special and go a smoothly as possible. The house is stunning with so much character and the food is delicious too. Cannot praise it and the people who work there enough.

My husband whisked me Away to callow Hall 2 years ago I thought I was going away for a relaxing weekend but hubby had organised a secret wedding for us! Callow Hall is absolutely beautiful and will always have a special place in my heart the staff are polite and the food is out of this world! I would recommend anyone to stay in this breathtaking place! I'm looking forward to re visiting very soon!

Just got home after a 1 night stay to celebrate 1 year together with my partner. Everything was wonderful. Staff could not be more attentive. The rooms were clean and beautiful. The food fantastic. The grounds and building were amazing. It was a real pleasure to stay there. My only small peve was that I purchased the bear from my room as a reminder and on the way home his stitching on the back had split open. But he is still a lovely reminder of a perfect evening. Thank you :)

It's a little tired but that is why it is so charming, the staff are amazing - nothing is to much trouble. If you are going have the rib of beef, how chef does it I don't know but it's superb!

Im so lucky to live within a mile of this stunning Hotel. Such a relaxed atmosphere and fabulous service. You have to go and visit it. I also work at the hotel as a wedding makeup Artist. So when I hear that you have booked Callow Hall I can defiantly say you have made a great choice. I got married at Callow Hall on the 6th August and it couldn't have been any better. The venue is stunning, the staff are so polite and helpful and the food was perfect. To top it off the sun even came out. I really did live my dream wedding at this venue and highly recommend it, especially if you want an outside ceremony. Hidden gem behind Ashbourne- we had a champagne afternoon tea there. � We could choose where to sit and had a generous helping of sandwiches, scones and cakes and tea by the belly-full! We took the extra cakes we couldn't manage home in a cake box. We sat by an open fire and my mum had a little nap in the sitting chair before we walked around the gardens. Staff were pleasant and accomodating! X

Had the pleasure of photographing a wedding in October, the weather was kind to the wedding party and the managed to exchange their vows in the band stand in the secret garden, nothing too much trouble for the managers and staff, I can highly recommend Callow Hall

Fantastic! Attended my cousin's wedding at Callow House and lucky enough to to stay there two nights. Gorgeous venue and the staff work so hard to make everything perfect. Highly recommend this place for any occasion! �

As devotees of Callow Hall's sister Hotel East Lodge we knew what level of quality we were likely to find at Callow Hall and we're not dissapointed. There just for a meal we were made to feel so welcome by the wonderful young lady on duty who's name I sadly forget, but suffice to say she totally met the incredible standards we have come to love at E.L. and the food was of course just as superb. Our hearts will always lie at EL having been married there but Callow Hall was a marvellous evening out!

Amazing venue for our perfect day. From start to finish the staff could not have been more helpful, they choreographed everything on the day and made sure everything ran smoothly. Both ourselves and our guests could not have been more impressed with the service.

Amazing hidden gem of a hotel. Fantastic owners and staff and amazing afternoon tea. One of the most welcoming hotels I’ve ever been too. I stumbled across Callow Hall when looking for somewhere to take my mum and aunties for afternoon tea for my mum’s birthday and I’m so glad I did. Will definitely be back!

Staff were very friendly but their clothing and white gloves were dirty.

Would never recommend this place thanks to how fellow local businesses have been treated by this place. Rude and unprofessional.
