In celebration of World Doula Week, and to raise money for Cambs Doulas Access Fund (supporting vulnerable woman to receive Doula care) we are hosting a screening of the award-winning landmark feature documentary, Microbirth, followed by a group discussion, cake and raffle with some awesome prizes!!
“Microbirth” is a 60 minute documentary looking at the latest scientific research about the microscopic events happening during childbirth.
“Microbirth” reveals the latest scient...ific thinking on how best to “seed” a baby’s microbiome in order to build the strongest possible immune system. This cutting-edge science has the potential to not only improve the health of our children across a lifetime, but also across generations still to come.
Please share with expectant parents, new parents, birth workers, birth enthusiasts, those that work with young families - and anyone else that may be interested!!

A wonderful opportunity for someone. Are you pregnant or do you have an up to 3 wk old baby?
Annie is a photographer in Cambridge. Annie is looking for someone who is either pregnant or who has a baby under 3 weeks old who might be interested in having their photos taken. The shoot would be free in exchange for use in Annie's porfolio.
... Contact Annie if you are interested.

This is a great blog, navigating through the evidence around weaning age and the difference between normal developmental processes and signs your baby really is ready to start trying food.....

Still some spaces left on the Toddler Behaviour workshop at Stir Cafe, Chesterton Rd, Cambs on Monday 19th March.
This is one of my favourite workshops to run, it is often really reassuring to be amongst others that understand the challenges and to walk away with a virtual toolkit for positive behaviour support.
Contact me if you have any questions or would like any further info

Following the sensationalist scaremongering headlines around cot death yesterday in various tabloids, here is the Lullaby Trusts (evidence based) response.

So many parents attend my Sleep workshops with a feeling they have caused sleep issues, feeling guilty for co-sleeping, feeling under pressure to teach their babies to sleep alone.
This article explains why you should not feel guilty if you have chosen to co-sleep.
For some parents co-sleeping is not their choice, however- time, patience and gentle approaches can support babies to sleep well in their own space. We must have realistic expectations and we must start celebrating and sharing realistic sleep goals.

Do your children 'steal' or take things secretly, without asking - then deny it when you ask them about it?
My 7yr old son is definitely going through a phase of this, sometimes with sweets and sometimes with my shiny jewellery- a bit like a magpie!
Here is my reflection from today on how a child might respond when asked if they know where something is.......
... Feel free to share your ideas on how you have dealt with a similar situation.....

A babies cry is their pre-verbal, very first way of communicating to you. The reason they are not born with a full vocabulary is because a lot of brain development happens in the first 4 years of their lives - and they begin to learn language from listening to you talk to them. So our job as parents, is to listen to their cry, and work out what it means. This job of working out what a cry means unfortunately doesn't magically stop at night. We are parents for 24hrs a day, it is hard work! Please read your baby, not the 'baby expert books'
This article is excellent and explores 'crying'
