Training this week was all about breaking and entering into locked vehicles without damaging them. It's a fiddly job but someone has got to do it! 👨🚒👩🚒
We have just been issued with new equipment that allows us to gain access to vehicles without breaking a window or damaging the car. We often get called to children locked in vehicle's and this is just another way in which we serve our community.

Congratulations to one of our Firefighters Dan on completing his first year with us and marking the occasion with his pass out parade.

On Monday we attended a deliberate bush fire that spread to a building in #Chippenham. We worked with our colleagues from Corsham Fire Station, #ChippenhamFireStation and Wiltshire Police to stop the spread of fire and save the building.
Great teamwork from all.

TURNOUT: This morning we were mobilised to release a 3 year old child that had been locked in a car. Entry was forced via a window and 1 happy child rescued.
Due to inconsiderate parking we were unable to get the fire engine to the incident. Luckily this wasn't a serious incident, but had it been a delay could of costs lives, think before you park!

Great training session last night refreshing and practicing our casualty care skills. We do a lot more than just fight fires.

Training Night: we had a reserve fire engine on station whilst ours was away for service, so we decided to familiarise ourselves with all of the kit and have a little competition whilst we were at it.
Target practice with ground monitors, along with pumping from open eater and ladder drills.

We had a brilliant visit from First Lyneham Scouts this week, testing their knowledge of fire safety and demonstrating some of the work that we do as Firefighters.

Training Night at #Chippenham fire station yesterday.
The crew got to work with two BA scenario drills. The first as a team of 3 entering a basement, and the second as a team of 2 entering a house. Both teams with the brief of FireFighting and Search & Rescue.
Lots of effort and hard work put in by both teams, and a great opportunity for us to practice our skills in a more realistic setting.

TURNOUTS: Busy morning today, first we were mobilised to reports of a motorcycle fire on the A350 which thankfully was a false alarm. We cleared a small fuel leak from the carriageway.
Then we were mobilised alongside Royal Wootton Bassett to an RTC where a vehicle had left the road and ended up in a ditch. Luckily the driver escaped serious injury and was left in the care of South Western Ambulance Service.
We had a lovely visit from Humpty Dumpty pre-school in Calne earlier today. All of the children got to have a look around the fire engine, try some of the Fire Kit on and squirt some water! 🚒💦
Very well behaved group of children, and parents too! Always welcome again.
