For over 25 years I have been intensely involved with the beloved Classic Mini, a period that has seen me relentlessly pursuing research and development of a very wide range of products for an equally wide range of clients and customers – encompassing the whole spectrum of Mini performance tuning from engines to tyres and recently including engine, transmission and drive train for MG Midget and A-H Sprites.

Gotta love a fully-equipped Sunnen head processing centre. This is Damico's.

I keep being told that the cam follower manufacturers are now correctly grinding the face profile. They are certainly grinding them.... but flatter than a flat thing. Visible is the periphal ring where I just touched the follower face on my follower grinder. And the finished result.

After some false starts with manufacturing and machining issues Damico is now turning out completed aluminium heads for it's customer Holmes Racing. Beautiful.

In a technical email question I received a couple of days ago, the author said he'd heard I had retired. I most certainly have not! CST has integrated with Damico Engines. Busy turning out quality products of all sorts. Here yet another CST spec head completed for despatch.

And so it begins.... at last. The packing up of the CST workshop. All the big machinery moved in to the storage containers.

End of an era.... For the first time in over 30 years the CST work board is empty as opposed to packed.

So what do you do with a spare couple of hours on Easter Sunday.... why... help a mate out sorting a new square section oil/air separator cannister type timing cover breather on his beautiful pick-up.

BRILLIANT! This is how our friends are... giving Karin & I a send-off dinner party as only they can do. Brain-child of Karin's daughter Donna Landahl and a lot iof secret skull-duggery getting the costumes made.. including the beards!

Calver Special Tuning moving.
... After operating from Malton, North Yorkshire for over 20 years, Calver Special Tuning has decided to move. Following a long working relationship with Damico Engines Limited, owner Darren Snelling and Calver Special Tuning's A-series and all things Mini specialist Keith Calver have decided to combine forces to maximise and strengthen both companies capabilities. Damico's excellent and well appointed dyno facility is what attracted Keith to work with Darren on a regular basis some 10 or so years ago. Darren's desire to further expand his company's capabilities and Keith's desire to claw back some personal time to re-build his 7 Minis, especially his historic Clubman GT race car, was an opportunity too good to pass up.
Damico Engines, based in East Harling, Norfolk, a mere stones throw from Snetterton racing circuit, covers all automotive engineering from a simple head skim to a full race engine development program. With a deeply experienced background in automotive engineering, Darren started up Damico some 15 years ago. Specialising in top quality and very successful racing engines for all marques as well as restorations - classics to current. Damico is the selected supplier of engines for the JCW MINI Challenge series, to be supporting the BTCC in 2020. running the turbo charged B48A BMW engine.
Calver ST's specialised products will all still be available from the CST website, and technical help still readily available from Keith via email.
The new endeavour will start operating on 1st April 2019.

Back on the dyno.... 1340 class 4 grass track motor. Impressive torque spread and good power.

ARSE! About all you can say after six hours work on a head to find the coolant jacket. Must have been a real rubbish casting. Haven't gone through here in yonks - roof of port on a road-sport spec head.

Second interesting motor destined for same foreign shores. More modified spec that I haven't done an engine for before. And again pretty damned impressive results. Vety pleased.
