A superb day was had by one and all at the Superhero Series in Windsor on Saturday. As well as entering three thoroughbred teams ourselves, #TeamCalvert met up with one of our amazing ambassadors, Shaun Gash, who donated a cheque for £750 following his group's fundraising drive up Ben Nevis in June. Meanwhile, our own superstar Daisy was in Jonnie Peacock's Superhero Tri team... more photos to follow.

Coming to stay at Calvert Trust Exmoor enabled Amit Patel to enjoy activities he hadn't done since suddenly losing his sight five years ago. He says the opportunity made him feel more like himself again and has given him the confidence to try more activities in the future - especially water sports.

We’ve just come back from a week at the Calvert Trust and Loved it. Cat our instructor was fantastic. It’s the first time my son & daughter have been able to take part in activities together such as horse riding, abseiling and archery. Food is amazing (have put on at least a stone in a week). Everything has been thought about so no worries about access etc etc. Lovely for us to mix with a main steam school as well as a special needs school. Both schools were amazing and the children were all really well behaved. A truly fully inclusive holiday activity venue. Huge thank you.

We have just returned home from our amazing mid week break -Im a support worker and along with another work colleague we supported two ladies 1 lady in her later years able to walk with alittle support from her walking stick and 1 lady in a wheelchair unable to walk at all -All 4 of us experienced everything -There wasn't any activity when 1 was 'left out' because of their differences in ability -It was absolutely amazing -Calvert staff are so supportive and have superb knowledge in what they do . The whole place was beautifully kept always clean and tidy . We used the equipment provided in the swimming pool area to allow our 1 lady to assess the pool -one activity she had not experienced in years - Such an amazing place and would recommend it to anyone -Nothing is impossible! - Thankyou Cavert

We arrived back exhausted after an action packed weekend! It was out first visit with our son so did not know what to expect but it was just brilliant we had such a laugh. We were in Croyde group with some fantastic carers and their young people who were up for the action and we all worked together as a team along with our ever patient instructors Kate and Steve - who was so patient as i blubbed attempting to abseil which i did. The food was lovely and plentiful and the room comfortable. We went to the disco in the evening and Roy and Rosie were just brilliant our son would not let us sit down so we danced for about 2hrs solid. It was lovely to see carers who cared so much especially the guys in our team you are a credit to the people you work for and even when they were shattered made the effort to take them out to the disco. It was also nice to not to be stared at or judged and we all just be ourselves.

User

The most inspiring, inclusive, challenging yet supportive environment for families with extra needs. The nature, the views, the staff and the opportunity for musicians to share their music with these families makes this a truly happy place full of love and smiles!

User

The Calvert trust is a totally awesome place, it gives the people with disabilities and their support a full range of activities that wouldn’t normally be available to be apart of thier day to day living, inclusive, inspirational and motivated.... and a big chance to meet like minded people thankyou Calvert

User

Thank you to all the wonderful staff, everything we asked for was there.

The food was amazing lovely home cooked.

Bedrooms were tidy and clean every morning and all so helpful.

The staff and pupils from Heart of the forest loved every minute thanks again. I will be telling everyone I know about the amazing experiences the children had.

Thank you once again.

User

Thank you so much for having me it was amazing and very quick week :( mostly cos I enjoyed myself so much. We did a lot and the instructors James and Jon are wonderful people who have been brilliant throughout the stay. Food and chefs wonderful. Setting is beautiful enjoyed the reservoir view the best from the balcony on the conservatory. Not one complaint!

User

My first time here and wow what an amazing place. The staff are excellent and its lovely to be somewhere where your pushed outside limits, encouraged to do things you never thought you could.Never judged, patronised and always treated like a person. My Parents booked this for me and my son after seeing Calvert Trust on a tv programme. They were hoping it would show me opportunities available that I could do instead of using excuses. Develop my confidence and social interaction,Calvert Trust exceeded my expectations so thank you very much(.Especially Alex our instructor! ),Couldnt of asked for a better group to be with as we all gelled very well.See you all again soon hopefully. xx

My daughter and I just returned from our first visit to The Calvert Trust. We were so excited to go and were not disappointed.

The staff were 100% relaxed, friendly, helpful and supportive, and maintained a great rapport with the group. The centre is breathtaking in its organisation, setting, cleanliness and presentation (with no hint of the institutionalised, sanitised environment I dreaded).

All activities were accessible to everyone and we were all encouraged to meet our potential without pressure. I did canoeing for the first time in 25 years and cycling for the first time in 13 years. I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed these activities. Abseiling, archery and zipwire were equally fun as was the simple ingenuity of the challenge course.

The pool is utter bliss, the perfect temperature to enable my spine and joints to relax enough to swim and do hydrotherapy for as long as I wanted to (rather than till I got cold as happens in public pools). The jacuzzi was sooo warm I just wanted to stay there!!

Our twin room with its own little shower room was perfect for a short visit and the provision of a quiet lounge and other quiet areas was utter joy as I find noisy areas such as dining rooms overwhelming and stressful so to have somewhere to go and recover was such bliss... and the views over the lake.... WOW!

I hadn't been sure what we'd make of it but as we sat on the station platform at Barnstaple waiting to set off home Val asked 'when are we going again?'

My thoughts exactly!

User

Just got back from my 3rd trip there and it really is an amazing activity centre , lots of centres claim to be fully inclusive , but this one most definitely is, Thank you to Mia and Hettie for looking after my group for the week , your both brilliant , not just as instructors but at listening/watching and adapting your sessions to suit the needs of our pupils, lastly a massive thank you to the chef who daily cooked special orders for our fussy eaters ... mainly our staff not pupils , hopefully see you all again same time next year .

User

Just back from an amazing week at the Calvert Trust. I love to do different kinds of activities but I am always being told I can't do things because of my health conditions, but at the Calvert they found ways of overcoming this and I was able to participate in every single activity, something I didn't think I would be able to do! All the staff were amazing, special shout outs to Harry and Katy who looked after us all week and Cat who always made sure I was ok. An extra special Thank You to Harry who supported me through two seizures. I think Calvert Trust was one of the few places I felt safe and able to do things. And I wasn't worried about wearing my ear defenders or moving to quiet spaces, the sensory room was extra helpful for me. Thank you Calvert Trust.

It was the best place to stay on holiday best holiday ever

I have been supporting two ladies on holiday this week at Calvert and although I'm mentally drained and physically ache everywhere, I am on a total high. Calvert trust Exmoor, you have done yourselves proud. Being a 'first-timer ', I had some idea what to expect, but didn't know it was going to be so brilliant. You assisted us on the activities, to support the ladies to have a brilliant holiday. Special mention to Phil, Dylan, Gemma, Alice and the stables entourage, who really were fantastic guides and quickly got to know how totally mad we were and how important it was to us for the ladies to have a fantastic holiday, you all jumped in feet first to make the experience even more memorable for them. Both ladies have achieved so much and have so much to celebrate and you all need to be recognised for that. You are all stars

Looking forward to coming back in the future. Thank you

I am home and exhausted but relaxed for the first time in years - why? I have just spent the most amazing time at The Calvert Trust in Exmoor doing things I never thought I would or even could do! We had a lovely little group of like minded folk and had a great many laughs, spills (me off a rope hanging upside down doing the splits apparently??) and thrills thanks to Monique and Sammie - wonderful ladies (do please tell them, and the best of luck to Sammie in her training and future career!) The centre is spotlessly clean and the food - wow Jenny, superb varied meals, especially the puddings and beautifully light cakes (I will ask for sugar free next time, never even crossed my mind, I just took more insulin, naughty, naughty!)

I have only one suggestion/improvement which I will add to my feedback form which I think should be made for the future.

I will be back! Thank you xxxx
