We visited these beauty’s today, less than 2 miles from Calypso Kitchen and producing the best halloumi we have ever tried. This 1st and 2nd generation Cypriot family are using 2 original halloumi recipes and traditional halloumi cheese making techniques. The milk from these goats produce some tasty squeaky, salty ‘n’ cheesy halloumi which will soon be on our menu. #100%#goatsmilk#

Went to this lovely place for a friends Birthday! The atmosphere was really relaxed and felt very cosy! We ordered some pre drinks and they were the Guinness punch cocktail which were amazing! The mains came in good time and we all thoroughly enjoyed the food! I had the gumbo which was very spicy but very yummy!! Overall a lovely chilled evening with good food and drink! I highly recommend

Went recently on a Monday night with my girlfriend, sister and her partner. Service was a little slow but given how busy it was that wasn't too much of an issue. They had ran out of some drinks, but what was on offer was still good. The food though was amazing. I cannot speak highly enough about it. It is worth the 5 star review for that alone. Try the goat curry!

Nice comfortable feel in a casual rustic setting. Good friendly service and excellent food. Definitely will be back.

User

Just popped in for a coffee and cake, on a busy Saturday afternoon. Chilled atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff and the BEST carrot cake I’ve had in a long time!

Menu looked good will go back for the Halloumi fries....I gotta try them!

I so enjoyed my first visit to Calyso Kitchen at the Harbourside it was chilled and very atmospheric. The decor was excellent as was the fab reggae music which I loved and was so relaxing. I had jerk chicken with rice and carribian slaw, delicious followed by the most fantastic ' garden rum punch' ...can't wait for another one!!! The staff were lovely and very welcoming. I have friends want to come there with me.

User

I had a great experience, friendly staff. They even made an non alcohol cocktail for my friends son so he didn’t feel left out. They was all very good and extremely quick with our food. Would definitely go there again

User

I came here while visiting Bristol with my boyfriend. Amazing food and cocktails, such hospitable staff and a friendly atmosphere. I would definitely visit here again!

From the outside this box of joy does not look like much, but please don't let it influence you. Inside beholds some of the finest Caribbean cuisine I've ever come across, not to mention how kind hearted and warming the staff are, will be recommending to all friends and family, shoutout to my boy reggie btw cutest lil dog ever

User

Fab venue, fab food, love the Yemen sauce most delightfully refreshing flavour. I enjoyed the fish wrap was delicious nutritious and filling. Houmous was nice and portions generous. Wish I lived closer so I could come back.

User

nice looking venue. Food was good but not amazing - the jerk ribs starter hadn't been slow cooked so a bit tough but the slaw and dipping sauce thst came with it was great. The Gumbo was tasty but more like a curry than a traditional New Orleans Gumbo (maybe it is a Barbados slant on the dish). Jerk chicken wrap was great.

User

Unfortunately we'd already had lunch so only stopped in for a coffee and cake. The place is really cool, the staff are lovely, the food looked great (from what we saw) but smelt wonderful. The salted caramel brownie, however, to die for. I'd travel all that way just for another slice :-)

User

Food was pretty good...could have came out a bit hotter and rice was cooked a little too quickly. Bit of tweaking needed to get the food on point. It wasn’t full of hot pepper and flavour was good

User

Nice venue, decor, atmosphere etc. My meal not so much, I had the jerk chicken wrap and all I could taste was the overpowering pickles, no spice or the bbq sauce it was supposed to have. Of the two servers one did everything and was great and the other hadn't a clue taking food to the wrong tables (worse than not being there). A shame as the place and idea is good and maybe I was unlucky but I don't think I'll be coming here again or recommend to my friends :(

User

So we ordered 3 dishes as we wanted to try everything ... curry goat, jerk chicken and brown stew. All very disappointing. Rice and peas had me gagging tooo much coconut milk, the curry got had too much tyme and the brown stew chicken wasn't cooked down long enough tomatoes still hard.... NO high chair for my baby ... so had to hold her and eat.. Very disappointed... had high hopes.. chips were the only decent thing and they aren't that great either...

User

Second time at this restaurant and probably the last. It took a really long time to get any food, even thou the place was not that busy...and in all honesty that kinda food doesn't need that much time... the actual meal was also a letdown, every single element on my plate was was just packed with salt... it was all I could taste, very unpleasant

User

What a shame the waiting staff failed to observe one of the key principles of hospitality- the customer is always right! And even if you don’t agree, they are still right!! When someone complains about their meal (as I justifiably did, since my portion was much smaller than my companions), you’ve got to suck it up. You do NOT take the plate away and back to the customer TWICE, trying to guilt trip them by saying it will take 15 minutes to make a fresh one. You finally agreed to change my order with more attitude than a schoolgirl on detention, then later dumped it on my table with a very insincere apology. Just who the f**k do you think you are? Whapping wharf might be Bristol’s hippest new area but it is NOT Shoreditch, darlings. You will soon come unstuck if you fail to observe some common courtesy. I shan’t be going back.

Went in on Friday afternoon restaurant was empty but dirty plates and glasses on most tables. Staff did not greet us or offer a table. We sat at a table and expected staff would clear the dirty glasses from table and clean table. They continued to ignore us. Extremely lazy staff and rude, we sat for five minutes but staff were to busy stood around doing nothing and chatting to each other. We decided to leave and eat somewhere else. Staff need training on table service and manners, I would understand if they were busy but the place was empty and they were doing nothing!

User

Popped in over lunch. Ordered a halloumi wrap. THere unfortunately for me, was chicken in my halloumi wrap, which I then ate a piece of before realising. I'm vegetarian so this is beyond not being acceptable. I called and to paraphrase "mistakes happen", and "we were really busy over lunch".

Emailed them about this and was told by the owner Will that he would call me, no phone call - clearly they just don't care.
