Ely boathouse was born from the need of the men, women and lightweights of Cambridge University boat clubs for a place for hard athletic work to fit around demanding academic schedules. This boathouse is an ecologically designed place of beauty and comfort. Not only that, but "This is where we prepare to win boat races", the motto the students see every time they walk into the boathouse. This is a place where past meets present meets future, where all three University clubs came together to raise £4. 9M over ten years to allow the complete fitting out of this brand new building to the highest possible standard. Now everyone can share in this special project. This iconic building is perfectly suited to public use and available for hire for anything from business breakfast meetings to conferences to birthdays and weddings. It is a state of the art facility where architects have balanced function with aesthetics and produced a large, comfortable, well equipped building to suit the needs of all kinds of gatherings. Ely Boathouse is the only venue that can offer a real Cambridge University rowing experience. As well as soaking up the atmosphere where our athletes train, you can experience a tour of the Boathouse by one of our former rowers, have an Olympian speak at your event and even stage a rowing event ( all subject to dates and availability). This is a truly unique building which provides the newest and most authentic Cambridge experience for your event.
