About Cambridge University Commonwealth Society

Cambridge University Commonwealth Society is a member of the Royal Commonwealth Society, an international organisation with branches in the different Commonwealth countries. The CUCS was established in 1989 under the name of the Cambridge Commonwealth Group (CCG). We changed its name in October 2003 to emphasise our connection with the University of Cambridge. It is formally a branch of the Royal Commonwealth Society. Since 1998 it has been a registered University Society. Membership is open to all who support the aims of the Commonwealth. Most of the members are students, but there is also a small group of permanent, locally based members, with wide experience of living and working in Commonwealth countries. The Group has close links with Cambridge Commonwealth Trust and with the British Council. It has few British student members but a number of other international, but non-Commonwealth, students.
