About Cambridge University Women'S Lacrosse Club

The Cambridge University Women's Lacrosse Club (CUWLC) was founded in 1912 and is arguably the most successful female sports club at the University. As a fully self-supported club, CUWLC depends on the dedication and sporting talent of its individuals coming together. Made up of approximately 40 players, the self-coached squad consistently produces two fiercely strong teams: the Blues and the Kingfishers. Both teams compete in the highest possible BUCS leagues (British Universities and Colleges Sport) – the Blues in the Southern Premiership, and the Kingfishers in the Midlands 1A League. Over the past decade, CUWLC have dominated their respective leagues, leading to steady top-3 finishes nationally. In 2015-16, the Blues topped the South Premier League for the 10th consecutive year, unbeaten. They placed 3rd in the National Championships, whilst the Kingfishers demonstrated the depth of the Club by winning silver medals and placing 2nd. Both teams also compete in the annual Varsity matches against Oxford. Propelled by the collective ambition of its members, some of whom have played at international and territorial levels, CUWLC looks to strengthen its squad annually. The Club seeks to build upon its past achievements and honour its prestigious status as a Cambridge Full Blue sport.
