About Cambridgeshire Search And Rescue

Cambridgeshire Search and Rescue (CamSAR) was founded in 2006 to provide a trained specialist search and rescue resource to the Cambridgeshire Constabulary in the search and recovery of vulnerable missing persons. A vulnerable missing person could be a child, an elderly person suffering from dementia or even someone who is considering taking their own life. In each case, an emergency response is vital. Available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year the team is equipped to reach even the farthest parts of the county within an hour, and with highly trained search management and planning personnel CamSAR is able to be fully autonomous in implementing its emergency response. All of our volunteers are trained to national standards in comprehensive Search and Rescue techniques and those skills are extended by further training in other relevant subjects such as life support, navigation and communications. CamSAR is also able to deploy various specialist resources including for inland water search and bike-mounted search as well as individual team specialists, such as trackers and Lowland Rescue First Responders with higher medical training. The team also utilises its own radio communications and GPS mapping equipment making CamSAR completely self sufficient. As a registered charity CamSAR relies entirely on donations from the public and local businesses and receives no government funding. All donations and money raised go directly to the running of the team.
