We was there all weekend had a fantastic time the atmosphere was amazing i went with my daughter we are both straight and my son and his partner who are gay we was made very welcome thousands of people there and no trouble even the police joined in the fun would liked to see a bit more of take that and Gary Barlow as it's there home town but that is my personal preference but will be going again.

User

We came here on my m8s hen do after watching the dream boys,we r all straight but we had an amazing night..atmospher was brilliant & everyone made us so welcome & were so friendly..EXCEPT 1 bouncer that we found 2 b very rude & had a serious attitude, telling us " our kind shouldnt be here" & when we asked why were told " f*** off ur not welcome" disgusting attitude 2 have if ur a bouncer!! We didnt let that spoil r night tho & like i said amazing night out can really recomend..thankyou

Tons of fun! Enough bars and clubs for everyone to be able to pick the best fitting one for their mood. Huge selection. Safe and cheap drinks 🍹

User

The kennel club was great too DUKE the puppy was a puppy I could take home lol David u looked great so much equality and diversity great great great great fun

User

Had the best time visiting this place, friendly and fun x

User

First time visiting the city and it was for pride weekend! Such a great atmosphere! Met some wonderful people who i Now call friends! It’s great to see such a huge place where people can go and feel safe! Fell in love with this place in a instant!! The atmosphere alone has put me on a high I don’t want to end! As wanna live there now 😂 thanks all for a great weekend

User

The place just possesses a certain vibe. I felt at home immediately. Lots of friendly smiles, good food, and OK prices for a tipple or two. Thankfully, I'd been warned so I'm sharing that knowledge too - as with all things in this day and age - beware of the scammers.

Two young blokes approached me halfway down Canal St, asking me to break a £20, as the one owed the other a tenner.

Thankfully I didn't fall for it, and when when I suggested the £20 was fake I was subjected to some choice language and they walked off; but my legal 20 remained in my pocket.

Damn, those boys' was fine...and that's why it works! Don't be taken for a mug!!

User

Loved Canal street it's such a lively, vibrant and friendly place only downfall was G.A.Y bar not letting us in because we weren't regulars! Seems a bit harsh that. All the other bars were spot on though and couldn't of had a better day.

User

Love coming out here but some of the bars can be biphobic if you aren’t the typical looking gay female. I do get tired of being told I pass straight.

User

I was volunteering for #manchesterpride working as a key ring sales guy as well. Great music, nice crowd. I knew a few people that Ive spoke to and had a laugh. anybody got a shout I have 300 per cent of beer in three shots off absinthe and a litre of vodka that I've had for awhile

User

Brilliant people, had a good laugh. Asked to leave G.A.Y. talk about double standards! How can you educate people on exceptance and show that we are all the same regardless of sexual preference, gender etc... Live and let live.

User

This was my 1st time at Manchester pride, I paid for a weekend ticket and to see the homeless and beggers in without a band is a massive kick in the teeth. Also not being aloud in gaydo stage with our own bought beer from the village shop. My partner who has being several times said the market has gone down hill also.

User

Canal Street can be fun but GAY with its regular meaning twinky camp gays only should be shut. Talk about create more division in an already divided community. We all know there isnt a regulars list or a membership programme and cut the bull. Also please explain how you prove yourself as gay which i was asked once by their door team.

User

this review is based on G-A-Y bar as there dont seem to have an option for review. when to this place last night for the 2nd time in a couple of years, 1st time i went was with a partner, on this ocation we got in but only coz we said we was a gay couple after nearly been refused entry claiming we wasnt "regulars" this is a term used to decline you if they dont like the look of you or you dont look gay enough. in my opinion this is an embarrassment to the gay community. in one breath we try to be proud claiming equality and diversity but on the other hand you have places like this singling out....we cant have it all ways?? anyways last night we was there again in a group of 7...'all gay', and again we did get in but seen a few decent looking people been declined due to not been regulars, just to be clear we aint regulars either?? you do the maths?

well once in there was all good, good music a decent pint, couldnt say as much for the bar staff with highly disturbing attitudes that cant seem to run a tap, never mind a bar. ill never support or step foot in a place like this again and ill have my doubts about entering another gay bar.

User

Walked down Canal Street at 1.30am on a Friday night /Saturday morning and wondered whether I was the only gay in the village. What has happened to this street, what has happened to this street I used to love? Feeling p****ed off.

User

This review is for G-A-Y since they give you no option to review them personally on their page, most probably because they’d receive 1 star the majority of the time. VILE attitudes off the bar staff, One of them blatantly refused to serve my male friend presuming he was straight, saying “you’re not allowed to be here”. Manchester licensing council have been informed, as that is discrimination. Not only is my friend gay, he has been going to Canal Street longer than that little rancid queen behind the bar has been serving drinks. Avoid the place. The whole staff have serious attitude problems. Delusions of grandeur!

User

Really gone down. I think the Northern Wuarter has the upper hand now. At least the toilets in the Northern Quarter are clean. Some on Canal Street are terrible and embarrassing when overseas visitors go.

Last time we were there , on a really sunny day and the street was very family . Two gay men were complaining that they "want their village back" Too stupid to realise it's the straight people spending in the summer that keep their pubs open.

I remember gay people complaining they were treated badly and wanted to be treated like everyone else. To these two gay blokes it was "we are gay and we want to be treated differently and have our own space"

User

Officially done ! Its awful , no originality , same old camp tunes not everyone wants to listen

To kylie , steps , lady gaga , nicki minaj ! , full of clones , find it Rough ! Always drama ! Completely gone down hill ! Northern quarter is a breath of fresh air

I lost my phone here last night and I still haven’t had it back. If anyone finds or knows of a rose gold iPhone 7 with a giraffe phone case please contact me on this Facebook profile, thank you x
