This morning was a little crazy when a scentwork trial I'm hosting went on line for booking. I could have done with some of this ear work myself!

Video 2 - parkour can be an amazing confidence booster to dogs, but do remember if you want to do an activity such as scentwork, you will need to be careful around encouraging your dog to jump in or on boxes.

We're a little late to the party in sharing this advent calendar, but since all the videos are nice and short we'll share two a day (morning and evening) until the end.

This is a charity event in aid of Hounds for Heroes and Wonky Pets Rescue.

A big congratulations to Nellie who received her Puppy Good Companion award on Wednesday. Aysha has put a lot of work in at home and it has really paid off. Nellie is a very smart little cookie and we're looking forward to seeing what she does in future.

Pip became our first beginner to pass her Good Companion Beginner award on Wednesday. Well done Pip and Ann (who did ask that her face not be included - it's not just bad photography on my part)

Scentwork is a great activity to do with any dog of any age. Low impact and highly engaging, this team work exercise can be used just to have fun in the park, or you can build to competitive level and enter trials. This beginner workshop will be a 3hr introduction to helping your dog search and build their confidence to be a little more independent. Handler spaces are limited and are charged at £35.

If your dogs are anything like mine then the fireworks season is not fun for anyone. There is a lot of advice of things you can do to help and support your dog during this time, but the most important thing is to be there for them. Don't leave them alone at night and do comfort them if they are scared. You won't make a dog more scared by being a caring, supportive guardian. If you need any help coping with a fearful dog at this very noisy time, then give me a shout and I'll see how I can support you and your dog.

It was a very busy but wonderful day today and it was topped off with getting to spend time with this beautiful little girl. Her lovely guardians are eager to get her off to a great start, so we talked about how to train her to settle in her bed and relax while they both did other things and how to get going with some obedience work. She's in great hands. I look forward to updates from them to say how she's doing.

The exceptional Bertie and Bailey finished their Puppy Life Skills on Wednesday and are making great progress with confidence, politeness and calmness. Fitting into our lives is not always easy, but these two have made a brilliant start. Great work guys!

The exceptionally smart Bella is already searching for the scent of cloves after only 3 lessons. She's definitely going to be a dog to watch! All dogs need to work to their own pace, and some will pick up the idea quickly and others will take their time. What's important is that we all have fun along the way.
