About Canine Partners

The Official Facebook page for Canine Partners - a registered charity that trains assistance dogs for people with physical disabilities in the UK.

Canine Partners Description

More than 1. 2 million people in the UK use a wheelchair and a significant number of those would benefit from having a Canine Partners assistance dog. Our dogs are carefully matched to the applicant's needs and lifestyle, no matter how challenging.

Our dogs are trained to help with everyday tasks such as opening and shutting doors, unloading the washing machine, picking up dropped items, pressing buttons and switches and getting help in an emergency.

"May diverts my thoughts away from myself, my pain and my worries of the day. This lovely fun-loving dog has taken some of my disability away and has given me freedom. She is much more than a dog who gives me practical help: she is by my side constantly, my loyal friend, my security, my doorway to independence and she fills each day with laughter due to her sunny character."
Kate has Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, a condition which causes chronic pain and fatigue. Now with her secon...d canine partner May, Kate can continue to live her life with the life-transforming help May can give.

"I love seeing the joy and instant difference they make to their partners life, especially the confidence they give them. I enjoy helping our puppy parent grow in their ability to train the puppy and learn new skills, all the puppies are different and are incredible learners. It’s such a pleasure to watch them grow and mature.” Claire, West Sussex and Surrey Satellite Coordinator

"The reason I am so passionate is that Canine Partners saved two lives: They saved my husband's life and also gave me back my life as well. One of the biggest things is that I could go out and regain some things in my life knowing my husband was at home in safe paws."
Pat begun to volunteer for us after her husband Graham had a stroke 18 years ago.

"There’s always a point a few months in to a new partnership where the partner will tell me that they’ve been to a new place, somewhere they never thought they’d go let alone by themselves, and they look down at their dog and there’s a real acknowledgement that it wouldn’t have happened without them." "The thing I find most rewarding is seeing the partner with the dog and you've absolutely transformed their life. If you have a love for dogs, you get to have the most wonderful puppy until they go off to big school and then they transform somebody's life."
