**** EDIT 27/3/19 .... JUST ONE PLACE LEFT IN PUPPY CLASS STARTING NEXT WEEK**** PUPPIES ARE THE BEST 🐾 At CanineKinetics we know how special and precious those early weeks with your new pup are; but sometimes it's not as easy or cute as we hope, it's amazing how quickly pups can pick up naughty habits as well as the good ones! CanineKinetics instructors not only have lots of science based learning about dog behaviour, but most importantly we have many years of experience b...ringing up our own pups and helping other new puppy owners. Our puppy classes will help you and your pup learn together in a happy, fun and relaxed way. We never have more than 5 puppies in each class so it's a calm and friendly environment allowing Debbie, our experienced instructor to guide you through the early lessons of building a lifelong relationship with your pup :) We have a new puppy class starting on Thursday 4th April at 7.45pm ... Alternatively you may prefer one to one lessons specifically for you and your puppy - we are happy to arrange appointments just for you and your pup too! ... for further details E: info@caninekinetics.co.uk T: 01630 656140

Here is another of yesterday’s acupuncture patients ... Tizzy suffers from a neurological condition which affects her mobility and balance. She has regular hydrotherapy treatments together with home physio exercises and this has helped enormously, however her mobility difficulties have caused her to have a ‘trigger point’ - an area where her muscle has become tight and sore. In Tizzy’s case this is in her back; acupuncture is a great treatment for ‘trigger points’ and muscle ...injuries; Tizzy will need regular sessions over the next few weeks, and then hopefully she will be much more comfortable. She was completely relaxed during the treatment, and you may be able to see on the photos that her tail never stopped wagging!!! .... the needles stayed in for 10 minutes, all of which time she was very chilled out; and when the treatment was finished Tizzy gave Eliza a great big sloppy kiss!!!

This was Dotti’s first acupuncture treatment. I wasn’t sure how she would react but as you can see from the video she is completely relaxed and accepting of the very fine acupuncture needles ... all helped by Eliza’s calm and reassuring manner. Dotti suffered from a prolapsed disc in her vertebra 2 years ago, experiencing temporary paralysis and subsequent loss of co-ordination and mobility. Whilst physiotherapy keeps her in as good a condition as possible, the difficulties s...he has in maintaining her posture causes her to suffer from sore muscles through her back and neck. Within 12 hours of acupuncture her mobility, general mood and well-being had noticeably improved, she is standing squarer, moving better and managed to do a full stretch out this morning (something she hadn’t done since the prolapsed disc). As I write this she is pestering me to play with her ball!

ABOUT ACUPUNCTURE What is acupuncture? Acupuncture has evolved from the ancient art of placing needles into special locations on the body to alleviate pain and improve recovery rates
Acupuncture treatment should always follow an accurate diagnosis of the problem and a full appraisal of all treatment options. In many cases acupuncture is best used in conjunction with conventional medicine and therapies such as hydrotherapy, physiotherapy and massage. however, in some situation...s, it can be used as a sole treatment.
How can it help my dog? Pain is one of the most common indications for acupuncture. Very often this is chronic (long term) pain due to arthritis but muscular strains and spinal problems can also respond well. Acupuncture can also be a great asset to the rehabilitation of pets following orthopaedic or spinal surgeries.

On Wednesday we were delighted to welcome SyncThermology back to CanineKinetics. It was really interesting to watch the training of their team prior to Crufts, and how the images are taken to show areas of pain/discomfort/inflammation in dogs. For more info have a look at http://www.syncthermology.com/
