Canterbury Golf Club opened for play in 1927 on 160 acres of land leased from the War Office. Designed by the renowned course architect Harry Colt, the 18 hole course boasts several areas given SSSI status by Natural England.

#canterburygolfclub is surrounded by an abundance of trees, flowers, grasses, bushes and fungi. To the right of the 7th woodland area, southern marsh orchids can be found, (but it is illegal to pick them!) as well as King cups, yellow iris, ransoms (wild garlic), and wood anemones. There are hundreds of squirrels thriving in the well-fruited trees, (acorns, hazel nuts, etc.), including, if you are very lucky, an albino, which has appeared regularly over various parts of the course for many years.

Lovely course. Not too long for the average golfer but a challenge for the good one. Every hole is different so makes for an interesting round.
