Capital Repairs

We needed a very old cooker hood to be repaired so we phoned Capital Repairs. They send a very friendly mechanic and he explain the issue very clearly which we are very happy with it.

Unfortunately the communication from their office is very unorganised

The office said they will contact you soon but there will never be a return phone call. They said they will let you know how much the parts cost before they order it, no phone call again and they just order it without asking your opinion. They said they will be send someone once the part arrived, no follow up again till you phone them up to arrange one.

Basically you will need to be proactive to chase them for a follow ups, if not, i would imagine this job will never get finished.

Good mechanic as the fix got done in the end (took 3 months) but mainly because of the bad communication from the office.

It is so rare to have good service nowadays that I decided to leave a review. Was able to get an appointment for the next day, problem was fixed, engineer was very polite, helpful and even went beyond by asking if we needed help with anything else and offered advice on other appliances. Will definitely use again!

SHOCKING! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

I almost wasn't going to write a review but after the call I just received i think it is in the public's interest to know how bad this company is.

On 6th July 20 I called Capital Repairs for them to look at my Samsung American Fridge Freezer which had stopped cooling/freezing, and was tripping the kitchen circuits. The engineer suspected a faulty electrical board. The part was ordered and call out fee paid.

Just under 2 weeks lapsed for the part to arrive and to be fitted by the same engineer. The electrical board was fitted which made no difference and was then removed. The engineer had no idea what was wrong, says he's speaking to the technical team, and leaves. I believe this was Thursday 16th July/ Friday 17th. No further cost on this day. I am still without a working fridge/freezer at this point.

On 20th July I chased Capital Repairs for an update on the issue. They did not yet know. At this point I'd given up with the company. I found another appliance repair engineer who serves East London who looked at the fridge early afternoon, identified the issue, went off to collect the part and returned that evening. The fridge was fixed by him in under 6 hours from first inspection, for a total of £230 including call out.

Today, 14th September 20, Capital Repairs phone me to tell me the parts I needed are in stock which include an inverter, a compressor, and to re-gas the unit which is to cost over £400... 2 months later. This is the first call I have received from Capital Repairs since I last chased them. Unbelievable.

My fridge freezer still works perfectly, and since then I have used the same engineer to repair 2 other appliances at other properties, both fixed within 24 hours.

The only good experience with Capital Repairs was with the telephone operators who seem polite. To be fair they have a great profitable business model, to charge a call out fee but then have no clue about how to fix appliances. The least they should be doing is returning the call out fee to me for wasting my time.

At first I was worried once I read the reviews but I had an engineer (Marcel) come out to see if the fridge / freezer could be fixed (always try to repair where possible as it’s better for the environment).

Sadly it couldn’t and will need replacing but he was super informative and gave me lots of advice. Very friendly and polite and had a mask too.

Look forward to continuing to use their services for future repairs. Don’t be put off by a few negative reviews. My experience was A1
