About Captivelight Photography Workshops

CaptiveLight Photo Experience Days is run by award winning professional photographer Miles Herbert who has over 25 years experience in the photography industry and has been running photography workshops for more than 10 years.

Captivelight Photography Workshops Description

Welcome to Captivelight UK Photography Workshops and Experience Days based in Ringwood, close to Hampshire's New Forest, the seaside town of Bournemouth as well as the amazing Dorset "Jurassic Coast".

Captivelight UK offer Photographers the opportunity to try photographing birds of prey and other resident animals at Liberty's Owl, Raptor And Reptile Centre near Ringwood in Hampshire on the outskirts of the New Forest. During these experience days you will be close up with your models with no cage wires, bars or glass in the way, making it a great opportunity to get some really good photos. We also take some of the birds out in to the New Forest during our Raptors In The Forest days to give some great natural looking pictures. Our Days are open to photographers of all abilities and experience.

We also run Studio Model Photo Shoots using our professional studio equipment and real models to photograph. These are a superb opportunity to try Studio Photography at a fraction of the cost usually associated with hiring your own model and studio and is a great way for beginners to get a taste of photography in a studio setting. Many people find it easier to start off in a group like this as an introduction to working with models, and we limit numbers so everyone has ample time.

Weekday Workshops Weekday Workshops at Liberty's Centre are a way of indulging yourself in either a single photography session (morning or afternoon) or making a whole day of it and doing two sessions of your choice during the day on a one to one basis or as a small group. During the day you will be looked after by a very experienced professional photographer to help you get the most out of your day with training, tips and tuition if you need it, as well as to set things up and help with the technical side of things ensuring that you can concentrate on getting the images that you want. Snow Day Some people expressed an interest in some photos that were taken on a snowy day at Liberty's Centre back in 2010 - so here is the video from that day, complete with some really bad music! As you can see just getting in to the Centre that day was a problem for some, it took about 10 goes to get the Van up the slope into the car park! http://captivelight.uk/index.php/2018/10/ 15/snow-day/

Looking forward to a weekend of Reptiles and Frogs … this weekend has officially been declared as being mouse free!

Autumn has definitely come to our little studio today at Liberty's Centre in Ringwood... with Team Mousie showing their Autumn Colours for their fans today! #Harvest #Mouse #Mice #Photography #Photo #Workshop #Course #cute #studio #Autumn

Team Mousie has been very busy being cute for the cameras in their new purpose built enclosure but it was nice to take a little break from the mice yesterday and do a frog session (after a mouse session!) with a great little private group. Our Weekday Workshops have become really popular and give you the opportunity to tailor a full day to suit you, so you could for example photograph birds of prey in the morning followed by harvest mice in the afternoon. Full details can be found here: http://captivelight.uk/index.php/week-day -workshops/

After the Owls In The Forest day that was scheduled for yesterday was rained off we decided to run a little short notice "Rainy Day Photography" workshop in the nice warm dry studio instead with some frogs and a small group of people. Frogs that we photographed were Red Eyed Tree Frog, South American Horned Frog, Tomato Frog, Borneo Eared Frog and a Barred Leaf Frog. Thank you to everyone who came along and made it such a relaxed laid back fun day for all.

Zoo Photography With the rise in popular photography that digital cameras have caused has also come a rise in people wanting things to photograph, and Zoos come pretty high up the list of popular places to take a camera to. Go to any given Zoo on most days and more likely than not you will come across all sorts of cameras, lenses and like-minded people quietly snapping away at some unsuspecting animal as it dozes in front of the crowd. **** SOLD OUT NOW****Rainy Day Photography**** We've just cancelled our outdoor Owls photo day tomorrow as the weather forecast is pretty rubbish and the owls don't like windy wet days … which leaves us at a bit of a loose end. So … anyone fancy doing this kind of thing with some 🐸frogs🐸tomorrow morning up at Liberty's Centre (licence 1009/2) in Ringwood between 10 am and 12 ish midday for a very discounted price of just £25! I'm looking for just 4 people to do this. Cameras must be capable of accepting a standard flash trigger and ideal lenses are 100mm Macro or a decent zoom that doesn't need you to be too far away to focus.

NOTICE PLEASE READ - On the 1st October 2018 the laws regarding the use of animals for photography workshops will change under the Animal Welfare Regulations 2018. Anyone using captive animals for workshops (Harvest Mice, Reptiles, Birds Of Prey etc) will require to be inspected and licensed by the relevant authority and display the licence number on their website. As many of you know, over the last year we have been preparing for this new legislation and integrated all our a...nimal workshops into the purpose built facilities at Liberty's Owl, Raptor And Reptile Centre near Ringwood which holds a full Zoo Licence. As a result of our preparations we are happy to say that all our animal workshops will be carrying on as usual for the foreseeable future at Liberty's Centre. We support the Animal Welfare Regulations and suggest that anyone booking a photography workshops that involves the use of animals such as Harvest Mice, Reptiles, Amphibians and Birds Of Prey etc checks that the provider is fully licensed.
Please bare with us as we get various websites up to date with the new Regulations.
