Took my two young children tonight for a meal and was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Staff are wonderful and very welcoming, food is first class!!! Thankyou cardamom black for making our Christmas Eve so special.

First time in Harrogate, have to say the food was great , so I’d definitely go back there again

First of all the food was absolutely delicious every bite released every flavour , the best Indian food I’ve ever tasted .. yummy ... we travelled 45 minutes to get there and it was definitely worth it, the restaurant is stunning and the staff couldn’t be more adorable , thank you to Jess and Jamil who definitely added to the whole experience .. thank you. We will definitely be returning �

Every year we attend the Harrogate Home and Gift show and we visit Cardamom Black once or twice in the four days we are there �. The food is the Best and the waiters are great and make sure we are welcome. Thank you

Decided to try this for the first time tonight as we've always seen it passing by in the car and it's always caught our eye. The food was full of flavour, amazing value for money (there was so much more food than there looked to be in the dish!) and we were provided with excellent service by Arif and the rest of the staff. We also tried a cocktail and it was one of the nicest cocktails we've ever had. Thank you very much

Cardamom black is a excellent restaurant the food was exceptional and the service was first class, our waiter, who was arif, added more excitement to our visit making it an amazing first time visit to this highly recommended restaurant and I would certainly recommend this restaurant too.

Amazing food but let down by service. Everyone running around tripping up as so busy. Asked for water for table which came but forgot the glasses and one course in by the time we managed to get someone’s attention to bring some. Also gave us Free additional popodoms and then they were added to bill. Overall I’d go back as the food was so good but they need waiters with less tables so they can focus on their customers

This was our 3rd visit to Cardomom Black. We went for my partners birthday and we always look forward to going. Only this time was completely different to the other 2 times we have been. Our drinks we ordered at the bar while waiting took forever to make. We were shown to our seats and it took a while for the waiter to come over. He asked how many poddadoms we wanted, promptly brought them over then we waited 20 minutes for him to come back and take our order. The music was being turned up and down so we couldn't hear each other talking at times. We got our starters no problem. However there was a big gap between plates being taken and mains coming out. I asked for a drink when the mains came, the waiter said he'd send someone over, he didn't. So we caught the attention of someone else. I'd eaten my main by the time my drink came. Which was the wrong drink so had to bring it back again. We then asked for the bill, it never arrived so we had to go down and ask for it at the desk. We were very disappointed with our visit this time. We will be back, we just hope it's better service next time.

The food was lovely but the service from one member of staff was very rude, overcharged us by £46, took them a while to admit it, we had to work it out and show them what they had done wrong, they still didn't believe us, eventually gave us our money back with a half hearted apology, won't be going back.

Lovely food and friendly staff.However, felt rushed and when I asked about gluten free options was told that it was dairy and stuff yeh....not very reassuring..

10 out of 10 for atmosphere and presentation.. unfortunately the service was aweful..and their rendition of ‘indian’was not what I had experienced in 30 years. The popadoms where stale, the Balti was OTT hot and the rest was just an anti- climax.

“Can’t be doing with vegans”

Very disappointed with our experience last night. I booked weeks ago for our wedding anniversary meal out, and called up a week ago to confirm the vegan menu would be available (not well advertised, but I’d heard a feature about their large vegan menu on local radio). We arrived at 20:00, our drinks came promptly and we ordered our food. We had our starter and had eaten it by 20:20. After waiting an hour, we asked a passing waiter to check our food, and then proceeded to wait for another 30 mins. We were given a complementary drink, but since we only had water and ginger beer this wasn’t much consolation. Every time we asked, 3 staff told us it was “on the trolley for us”, “would be a few more minutes”, “was coming now”. Fed up of being lied to, we were about to leave when the food arrived at 21:50. We had to ask to speak to the manager to complain. His excuse was that the cashews for the vegan dish had to be freshly ground, which took the time, something other staff had said, which he admitted was a poor excuse. All of the staff including the manager tried to convince us we’d only been waiting 30 mins, which we had to correct. After an uncomfortable silence he offered 10% off the bill, which we accepted so we could eat. We practically inhaled the food, which was nice, but the whole evening was spoiled by the poor service. I think the worst part was when the waiter was clearing the table, he recounted that the chef had said he “can’t be doing with vegans”. He tried to backtrack and clarify he’d meant vegan food, not vegan people, but the message was clear, and made us feel terrible. Such a shame, as I understood they were proud of the extensive vegan menu (I heard that the owner’s wife is vegan).

This was our second visit and just as the first, the incompetence in calculating the bill was astounding. On our first visit the bill included a £60 fictitious charge. We were in a party of 12 so they’ve tried their look. Ok, it could possibly be a mistake? Or it’s just trying to con a large group with a large bill? Then this time, the simple task of taking 3 20 pound notes to cover the remaining £50 almost turn in to world war 3. Big Shaq can do simple maths but the 6/8 staff can’t. There is £10 change due! The fact that they need a rabble of men to intimidate a group out of £10 is pathetic. I’m guessing that the business must be struggling if you have to resort to petty theft! I implore everyone who might make the mistake of going here, to check their bill thoroughly.

I have been a regular customer here since it opened as the food is generally good. However, I tried to phone through for a takeaway tonight and the phone either continually rang out or, worse, the person answering just hung up without even acknowledging the caller! After 40 minutes of trying I gave up and went elsewhere. This is not a one off occurrence as it happens regularly, especially on a weekend night. If they’re too busy then all they have to do is answer the phone and say so, or perhaps employ more staff? There’s more to the restaurant trade than just good food and I feel this place often lets itself down with poor customer service, especially considering the price bracket they target.
