About Carers Leeds

An independent charity that gives support, advice and information to unpaid carers aged 16 and over. Established in 1996, our team of expert support workers are dedicated to improving the lives of the 74, 000 carers in Leeds.

Carers Leeds Description

Carers Leeds is a Leeds based independent charity working to provide confidential information, advice and support to adult carers.

Carers Leeds was set up in 1996 with a small staff team supporting carers in Leeds. Over the last 20 years, the service has grown and now supports all adult carers, regardless of the health issues of the person they care for.

Carers Leeds now employs 30 staff and works closely with six Carer Support Workers based in other organisations. Over 100 volunteers support and enhance the work of Carers Leeds.

The services focus is on adult carers aged 18 and over. At the moment we are also delivering a successful project, funded by Henry Smith Charity, which supports Young Adult Carers aged 16-25.

Carers Leeds is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee. It is managed by a Board of Trustees, Chief Executive Officer and Management Team.

Carers Leeds is funded by Leeds City Council and Leeds Clinical Commissioning Groups. Grants from charitable trusts, donations and support from private businesses also contribute to the income.

Carers Leeds works with Leeds Adult Social Care to deliver carers’ rights as set out in the Care Act 2014 and carers are encouraged to apply for a Carers Assessment via Carers Leeds.
