A useful factsheet for older carers
In Sandwell that is £120million EVERY WEEK!!!!
A carer's health can have a significant impact upon their ability to provide care in the future. Older people were more likely to say they expected to be able to provide no or less care in the future because of poor physical health (54% of over 65s) in our #CarersWeek research.
More than 3 million people are combining caring for someone with paid work - trying to juggle both can be hugely stressful. Sandwell carers can find out your rights at work and how to get support at cares.sandwell@btinternet.com or 01215587003.
GPs and other health and care professionals have a vital role in identifying #carers & signposting to support. New research for #CarersWeek found that among #carers whose GP knows they are a carer, only 1 in 10 gave them general information about support with caring.
There are currently over 2 million older people in the UK today providing unpaid care. Carers Week is about supporting carers to be healthy and connected. If you're a carer in Sandwell and need any support or advice, CARES can help - 0121 558 7003 or cares.sandwell@btinternet.com
