Cariads Description
CARIADS is a service that provides information, advice and support to carers in Thurrock. It has been created by three voluntary sector organisations, Thurrock Mind, Thurrock Lifestyle Solutions CIC and Thurrock Centre for Independent Living. They have come together to offer help, advice and support to all the carers in the local community.
As a “carer” you are responsible for arranging and providing care for someone who cannot care for themselves. You will be there for them giving emotional and practical support to ensure they maintain a decent quality of life. You may have given up your job and future prospects to look after someone full time or you are juggling a career and your caring duties. As strong as some people are we know over time this can take its toll on a person.
Many people do not plan to be carers but due to circumstances they are usually thrown into the deep end. They don’t have the time to think about what’s involved and are not be aware of the support available. The majority of carers feel they are alone with no one to talk to and to understand their needs.
This is why Cariads was created. We can provide carers with support and help find answers to questions they may have. We have access to many resources such as:
Information and advice
Help with carers assessments
Training and Information sessions for carers
Support with Education
Carers support groups – for specific groups
Counselling
Short breaks
Support in getting back to work
Respite / Outreach……and much more.
