About Caricom Magazine

Established in late 2017 by Calum Jacobs, CARICOM magazine sprang from a need to see football and fan culture examined through the criminally underexplored lens of the black experience in the United Kingdom and beyond. As a result, the publication explores the ways in which contemporary blackness, social attitudes, history and football intersect and overlap. Issues 1 and 2 use football's ability to encourage a sense of community to consider topics and individuals that have been largely absent from mainstream football coverage, or handled insensitively by it. CARICOM understands that carving out a space in football and culture writing that has black people unapologetically at its centre – by publishing media that has a genuine affinity with the content – is essential.
