Carmel Motors Community Project Description

Having spent over 45 years in the motor trade, as a mechanic and as a garage proprietor, Robbie Scully decided that it was time to change direction. He and his wife Alison moved from North London to Deal and set about realising Robbie’s dream of using his experience, knowledge and time to form a not for profit company to empower young people to fulfil their potential.

Mission Statement
We are aware that many young people in education feel disenfranchised.
They are unable to access a curriculum that is largely academic.
Many disadvantaged people are not given the opportunities to learn and develop new skills.
Our aim is to help to empower these people to achieve and succeed.
By providing, premises, tools, equipment, instruction, expectations and our time we offer young and disadvantaged people the opportunity to learn and develop skills required to access a career in the Motor Trade.

The unit in is newly built and has been fitted out to Robbie’s specifications, which includes a large disabled access toilet.
A new ramp has been installed.
Most of the equipment and parts have been bought down from London from Robbie’s previous premises.
We have been DBS checked and are trained in Emergency 1st Aid at work

As a not for profit company, the income we receive from sessional charges is fed back into the company to cover running costs.
We aim to keep our fees low to make the service accessible to our target clientele.
