About Carnegie Theatre & Arts Centre
The historic Carnegie Theatre and Arts Centre is West Cumbria's premier theatre and live music venue. Built originally in 1904 as a library and lecture hall the Grade II Listed Building has a 306 seat Edwardian proscenium auditorium, and the former library has served as an arts centre, with studios and meeting rooms since 1974. In 2015 the building was transferred to the Carnegie Theatre Trust, a community led Charitable Incorporated Organisation. Our VisionThe Carnegie Theatre Trust aims to be a sustainable organisation with charitable aims. We will provide a diverse and accessible range of high quality arts and leisure activities in a welcoming and inspiring environment; service provision and programme will promote social inclusion, interaction and engagement for all ages, shared experiences and opportunities to learn. The Carnegie Theatre & Arts Centre is run by the Carnegie Theatre Trust (Workington). A not for profit organisation registered in England under charity number 1160963.
