“Women are each other’s human wonder bras – uplifting, supportive and making each other look bigger and better.” So says Kathy Lette, funny, feminist author, who invites you to her new show, Girls’ Night Out.
It’s a psychological strip tease taking us from Puberty Blues to Menopause Blues, with tales of love, lust, men, marriage, pregnancy, childbirth, mastitis, sexist bosses, teenage-daughter-wrangling, ageing, toy boys, making the Queen laugh, hiding Julian Assange in her a...ttic, tongue kissing Prince William and Close Encounters of the George Clooney Kind, en route.
She also talks poignantly about the trials, tribulations and hilarity of raising a child on the autistic spectrum. From the times Jules came home from school with a sign sticky-taped to his back saying “Kick me I’m a retard" to his success playing Jason on Holby City.
So, grab your girlfriends and come along. Wit, warmth and full frontal frankness, guaranteed. (Men, attend at your own risqué!)

Simon & Garfunkel: Through the Years is the most authentic sounding concert to the unforgettable music of Simon & Garfunkel. Made up of Dan Haynes & Pete Richards, Bookends have toured the globe extensively with their concerts being described as ‘simply breath-taking’.
Performing the songs in a truly captivating way, against a backdrop of iconic imagery, their delicate recreation of the unmistakable sound of the American folk-rock duo is something of a masterpiece. Bookends h...ave been performing their unique, world-class concert to audiences in some of the finest theatres and concert halls across the UK, Europe and the United States.
Hear many of the hits such as The Sound of Silence, Mrs Robinson, The Boxer and Bookends’ own beautiful rendition of the unforgettable Bridge Over Troubled Water. This is without doubt the closest thing to Simon & Garfunkel touring the world today.

It's been a busy couple of weeks here whilst we have local schools and performing arts academies bringing their end of term shows. So a huge shout out and well done to Razzamataz Theatre School, St Patricks RC Primary School, Workington, Seaton Junior School (and huge kudos to all the Dads who missed Tuesday's match to come and see their kids perform!) and Victoria Junior School, Workington. We've still got Stagecoach Performing Arts School and Victoria Infant School to come ...in the next few days and we're sure they will be brilliant too. The Carnegie Theatre Trust exists to ensure that the West Cumbrian community has access to high quality arts and cultural experiences and we are delighted that so many local kids (we estimate over 800 this month!) have been able to come and show off their work on a professional stage. Its not a headline like a big name act coming here - but its just as crucial to our work here. #yourtheatre #communitymatters

Its a little known fact that the Carnegie is a charity. While we are privileged to receive some grant funding it is never enough and we're continuing to work hard to identify more grant funding and carry out fundraising to help us restore and enhance our building and do more community based projects.
One of the ways you can help us, if you have some spare time is to register as a volunteer. You can help in many ways from front of house stewarding to box office support. Even ...doing a bit of DIY really does help us.
If you want to support your local theatre & arts centre and be part of a brilliant team of people then take a look at our volunteer opportunities here: http://bit.ly/2zxThag

Well what can I say......I watched Legally Blonde last night. It was fantastic from start to finish. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

The cast and crew really were amazing. Thank you for a great night out. 🤗

User

We went to watch Russell Kane to celebrate my wife's birthday. The venue was very nice and the show was excellent. Russell is a top class comedian and easily one of the best stand ups we've seen. It's great to be able to see such talent locally and look forward to future shows. Highly recommend.

User

Was at the panto on 28th to watch sleeping beauty gotta say u were all fantastic i come every year and its just as good as the last. We tried carlisle also and its not a patch on yours. And big well done to who ever wrote the script its got something in for adults aswell as the kids keep up the good work GREAT night out x

User

Russell Kane is the best comedian ive seen by far. Lauged all the way through it. Love love loved it. Plz come bk again xx

User

My visit to the theatre was to see the show put on by the dream boys I loved every moment and a the bar staff working the evening where excellent

User

My first visit the Carnegie theatre, Workington since i moved up from Birmingham. i was with my daughter; her birthday present to see Jenny Eclaire. Theatre, entrance hall and bar lounge was much smaller than I had expected compared to larger towns/cities. However the service provided by the theatre staff was excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed the chance to get dressed up, meet with like minded women (and 7 men counted) fabulous mature sense of humour. The attention and friendliness shown by all staff was extremely appreciated. Including being allowed to use the sit down loo in gents as such long queue for ladies. I will definitely return. Only problem was last bus towards Carlisle left 15 minutes before end of show. £25 for a taxi on a pension not good.

User

Just got bk from seein dolly parton and kenny rodgers tribute it was absolutely amazing the staff were lovely to def recommend xx

User

Hazel O'Connor live was amazing show!! The only thing that let's the Carnegie down is the seating- I believe that when it was refurbished last, they should have raised the seats more as they got further back in the stalls?! As I'm a short 5'4" female being sat behind many a 6'+ male I find I always have to sit peering round the heads & shoulders of those in front! Leaving me with a stiff neck! Hazel again- AMAZING!!

User

Had a fantastic night at 80's mania. I couldn't praise the show enough. I felt as though I was back in my teenage years again. The venue was great. The staff friendly & helpful. I would definitely visit the Carneigie again for any up & coming shows. Thanks to the Carneigie for an amazing night. Loved every minute.

User

First class venue for Arts, was here today for granddaughter s dancing class, but have also been for ballet, opera , theatre, comedy , art, rock , performances in Munroes , my granddaughters christening , the Mayor civic service , public meetings and the day time cafe is excellent .

User

Been to the retreat in Carnegie such caring staff nothing was a problem even stopping to chat and food was good home cooked and well presented well done ladies x

User

Another great show last night Jenny Eclair. I loved the much improved entrance hall now selling tea, coffee, soft drinks and nibbles. First time I used the Bar area too. Really quick service. Staff were brilliant as usual. Only a suggestion, but as last night was mainly women, the queues for the toilet was huge. Maybe updated toilets could be next for improvement.

User

Went last night to see buddy holly and the crickets. It was a fantastic show well done Carnegie theatre. Bar staff quick and had good customer service a big thank you.

User

Went last night to see The Bon Jovi Experience. We thoroughly enjoyed the show apart from the fact the act didn't do many songs and the 1's they did do they strung the song out ridiculously long but that wasn't the Carnegies fault. However the bar situation was an absolute joke took forever to get served, no drinks were allowed to be served whilst the act was in stage and you had to order drinks for the interval!!!! Also 1 of the ladies toilet was out if order. However we would return again. But they need to be better staffed and organised on the bar.

User

I went to see The Bon Jovi Experience on Friday night & throughly enjoyed it! Love the Carnegie & have seen lots of shows there. The only thing that spoiled it was we ordered half time drinks only to find they weren't there when we came out & had to queue at a packed the bar with everyone else! This has never happened before so hopefully it was a one off!

User

The venue is great but the bar service requires improvement. Am afraid that I missed the start of the show and was late getting to our seats at the interval. No service during pre orders! Am afraid that this could have been organised better. What is the point waiting for 15 minutes in a 20 minute interval during pre order drinks not impressed. Especially since the venue was very busy.

I will add that the shows are amazing that is a 5 star but please work on the organisation of the bar. I don't want to miss out on what I paid to see.

Thanks

User

The show i seen HMT was total class snd its about time workington had this kind ov high class show on offer.

The only thing that let this theatre down. After this fantastic show ended and the whole audiance were buzzing.we heard the performers came down to the bar area fr meet and greets and photos..we were very disapointed to find a closed bar at only 10pm and the theatre staff asking people to leave the building ASAP..we found this very harsh and it totally flattened the evening..even if the bar stayed open fr just 1hr so people could chat bout wat theyv just seen wind down and call a cab.

On the down side ov the theatre your loosing out on so much trade.iv comented bout this on my FB. And alot ov people agree..your letting yourselves down with this...other than that fab show lovely theatre...hope to see some mre great acts in the future..... And a opened bar of corse!!!!

User

I think the bar service needs working on as we were not aware of the pre order situation. With only 3 ladies toilets and one being out of order caused a huge queue. The usher didnt usher us to our seats, just pointed to where they were.
