Carol Peace Sculptor

It seems strange to be editing the photos of my Flood piece now. In all this wet. I wrote a 'note' on FB while making it back in December. Pre election. The story was about a dream, but it wasn't the full story of the piece. I still haven't quite described it yet. Maybe as a visual artist I should remain silent and just let you notice she has stigmata. But I must let you know she may not be christian. But to you she may. Do you need to know, at first she had her eyes open, they are now closed. Know that I do not want one more martyr.

Last year I was going a 100 miles an hour. 2019 was a year of protest, a powerful swell of hope. Naive. My naive hope. It made a fair few sculptures. Here is one of them, leaves dancing about her form. Circumstances has hope dipped. I am not strong as I was. I am hurt by hope. But editing photos today, my work still stands. Vulnerable but strong. And John Terry's words seem so relevant all these years later. “They are first of all, real people. They yearn but they also give. They rise, they don't fall. They strive; are eternal optimists. They look perhaps slightly disorientated, but there is no pleasure in falling, or in giving up, so they keep on. 'For us there is only the trying’ "

I now have the first and second in the edition of my ‘Reflected’ sculpture back from the casters, finished ready to send out this week in time for Christmas…..just saying!

A pistol of next season... drawn against death.
It's the most powerfull thing she can do. . . . #mymummy #mybaby . . You cant really see see but mummy holds her baby's foot like a holster or pistol, leaves mirror each other in the flesh that touches. The light on them bouncing between the two.
