Caroline Lloyd - Acupuncture & Fertility Acupuncture Description

Acupuncture has a long and successful history in reproductive medicine.
Natural Fertility:
It can be used to help boost female fertility, to prepare the body for conception and pregnancy and to treat underlying conditions such as:
• PolycysticOvarianSyndrome • Endometriosis
• Irregularcycle
It's also good for:
• Relievingstress
• HormonalimbalanceslikehighFSH
• Boostingtheflowofbloodtotheuterus • Bloodflowtotheovaries
• Malefertility
Improve chances of IVF success:
Acupuncture can also be a valuable complement to lVF, for both men and women, helping to substantially improve the chances of success.
Pre & Post Embryo Transfer:
Having acupuncture pre and post embryo transfer can be particularly useful. A recent meta-analysis, published by the British Medical Journal in March 2008, suggests that women undergoing IVF, who also have acupuncture on the day of embryo transfer, have a much higher chance of conceiving than those who don't. This is supported by the most recent audit of Zita West clients. almost 60% " of whom became pregnant after having acupuncture at the Clinic before and after their embryo transfer.
Enhance Pregnancy:
Acupuncture can be especially helpful during pregnancy as well. At the Zita West Clinic we usually recommend that mothers-to-be consider having it every four to six weeks.
It can be used to help stimulate the flow of blood to the uterus and to help lift your energy levels. lt's great for relieving stress too - stress isn't good for mother or baby - and for relieving some of the more common ailments of pregnancy like nausea, fatigue or back- ache. It's often used in the last few weeks of pregnancy as well, helping to prepare you for birth.
It can be used to help induce labour, or to turn breech babies, and to help with pain relief during the birth. Zita usually encourages her clients to have acupuncture.
Support Post-Natal Recovery:
And, of course, acupuncture can be used to help new mothers too. The early weeks and months following the birth can be very demanding, both physically and emotionally. A few sessions of acupuncture can be really helpful in relieving backache and exhaustion. lt can help you to relax and rebuild your energy as well.
