A really simple, spot on explanation of the grieving process....how you don't 'get over' loss but learn to have it as part of your life. It can be so very hard to 'grow your life around your grief'. Counselling may offer a useful starting point in this process.....

I absolutely love this. When we are expected to be 'extraordinary' we often end up feeling not 'good enough'. Counselling can be a great way of working through how other people's expectations have shaped us and re-connecting with the wonderful 'ordinariness' of our selves.

Trauma is a powerful and often misunderstood word. As explained in this great article, any event which overwhelms our existing coping mechanisms may be experienced as traumatic. This can leave us unable to regulate our emotional response to stressful events and confused as to why this is. Counselling can play a crucial role in making sense of traumatic experiences and in developing healthy coping strategies.

Would you like to get to know your anxiety better and approach it with compassion rather than self-criticism? If so, it's worth giving giving this article a read...

An interesting TedTalk about the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences on health across the lifespan. Counselling can play a crucial role in healing the painful internal wounds inflicted by childhood trauma. Experiencing a caring, consistent and accepting relationship in therapy can help you to better trust yourself and the world in general. As a result, you may feel less triggered by those situations which led to considerable pain and distress in the past. https://www.ted.com/…/nadine_burke_harr is_how_childhood_tra… .

If you've ever felt unworthy of love and connection (and let's face it, haven't we all?!) I would very highly recommend listening to Brene Brown's Ted Talk on the Power of Vulnerability. I love this. It's powerful, it's beautiful and it's true. Hope you enjoy it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCvmsMzlF 7o

Great insight which suggests we need to reframe our thinking around 'mental health'. I like the idea of 'celebrating messiness'! This thought provoking video also links nicely to a Blog I wrote a while back https://www.carolineokeeffecounselling.co m/…/what-does-it-m…
