User

We have been to carriages about 6 times in the last 6 months. And love the food. The staff are very friendly and helpful .Good atmosphere too.

Definitely recommend carriages.

User

This is a little gem. The quality and appearance of the food is outstanding. The price is very attractive too. One of the highlights of our visit to the UK this year.

The best restaurant in Knaresborough! English food with a modern twist (like the pork belly including a mini deep fried piece of haggis, and the braised lamb including a mini shepherds pie). The details certainly add to the impression; I don't know if it's "Britain can bake", Jamie Oliver or whomever to praise, but this establishment makes great bread (a rare commodity in England a few years ago), and the vegetables are crispy and colourful (not bland and overcooked as most pubs would still serve them).

If you tucked away a full English in the morning at your B&B, you should skip lunch and instead take up The Carriages' early bird 2 dish course (just £16 before 18.30 hours).

I've been going to Carriages for years and just love it... the food is fab, with great taste and presentation. The service is second to none and Chris does an excellent job with his team....

In warmer months the garden is great and I love the events that are put on.... add to that great drinks and this place is a winner every time

User

Had the best meal we've had at a restaurant in years tonight. Lovely setting and food. Will definitely be back, especially in the summer so we can sit out the back in the garden.

User

Had lunch here today. Wonderful food, excellent service and one of the best play lists ever!!!! Further credit to the staff who arranged to keep a meal hot while daddy fed baby, but also to the chef who cooked another meal instead. Cannot fault anything.

User

Good food and service. Had a great night

User

User

User

Nice atmosphere - food was nice. V busy so we did have a bit of a wait for the food. The waiter gave me some olives to nibble on free of charge as the others in my party all had starters - v charming!

User

My Dad had his 50th birthday party here. 20 years later my parents decided to host his 70th here again last weekend and no disappointment. The current manager, Chris, was very attentive, friendly and accommodating. Yes, it's "small " but very very authentic, service great and a lovely change from the new refurbished modern bars (however much I love those).....

User

Lovely tapas, really enjoyed our meal. Even my husband, who wasn’t very well, enjoyed his meal. We have small appetites so on reflection, next time we would order one less.

Staff we very attentive without standing over us too

User

After being booked in with others by a friend for the early bird menu, I was quite looking forward to this dining experience. The location and atmosphere were good although the bar area a little cramped at this busy time. We were shown to a nice garden area at the rear to peruse the menu. Unfortunately I had already chosen what I wanted to eat at the front door but was it was apparent that some dishes were alternated and not updated. The titles of the dishes were a little pretentious to the extent that it became confusing to the diner and the waiter didn't know what they were called. The meal portion sizes were at the limit of acceptability given the price paid but the vegetable portions per person extremely disappointing, unacceptable and needs reviewing.
