....talking of Newark's history.... Our beautiful Castle Station that we now inhabit can be seen in this photograph with a steam train at the platform. I can't believe steam was still in use right up till 1968! So romantic to see and hear the billows of steam as a train departs.

I managed to buy this little cookery book written around the 1890s just because it was called "The Newark Cookery book" Inside are simple little recipes given by local ladies all those years ago. I wonder just how many families still live here and would recognise the names as grandmothers, great grandmothers or great aunts! I saw a Bakewell tart recipe by Mrs. J Gelsthorpe and wonder if she was any relation to the Peugeot garage owners? I will leave the book at the cafe tomorrow if any other old Newark family members want to take a look!

Went last night with my family, first time and it won’t be the last, very welcoming ambience, love the history stuff. staff very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, I love the idea of paying for extra meals for those in need, excellent

We threw a baby shower for my friend here at the weekend, absolutely gorgeous room, amazing afternoon tea (including vegan and veggie options!) everyone was lovely and accommodating, definitely going to be returning!

My first visit, a beautiful space, delicious food (I had the mushroom stack) and very friendly staff. Also love the ethos of the community kitchen on a Wednesday evening for those less fortunate. ��

Hired out the room for a 40th and it was terrific. A great place for private party and great hosts! Thank you.

Had lunch today. Really nice choice of sandwich fillings and bread options - served with vegetable crisps, coleslaw and a really delicious, colourful side salad. I had a chicken/pesto/mayo mix on a panini and my partner had a BLT on a crusty baguette - both were really yummy. There's a massive choice of traditional style cordials - we had elderflower and gooseberry and a ginger one. The decor and atmosphere was so nice we decided to hang around a little longer and also had a cream tea each. The staff were very attentive and we'll definitely go again. Highly recommend.

Had a couple of drinks here whilst waiting for a train. Really friendly staff and loved the atmosphere and would certainly recommend the gluten free carrot cake and brownie!

Had a beautiful breakfast here this morning - lovely fresh coffee and the team working here are so friendly. We will definitely be back. Thank you for making us feel so welcome

Found this by accident when travelling home on a snow day. What a find - absolutely superb. Great food, great service and loved the music too! X

First visit tonight... absolutely lovely little place... fantastic service and very friendly staff... food was top notch as well, felt like days of old. I will definitely be coming back and will be recommending to family and friends.�
