Carters Steam Fair is a unique experience. It is the largest travelling vintage funfair in the world, patronised by the public, celebrities and royalty.
All the rides are beautifully restored, dating from 1895 to the 1960's, with real mechanical organs and rock'n'roll keeping the atmosphere of the mid 20th Century alive.
Carters Steam Fair is a firm family favourite, and has been in the hearts and lives of the public since the late 1970's, when John and Anna Carter first started their collection.

**VIP opportunity to hear the history of the world's largest travelling vintage funfair before it opens to the public on Saturday.** Maidenhead based Carters Steam Fair is a unique attraction – it is an authentic travelling funfair entirely consisting of rare vintage equipment dating from the 1890's to the 1960's. When the fair goes on tour around the UK the family live in vintage showman's wagons and caravans. The whole fair is moved from place to place with a highly-decora...ted fleet of vintage lorries. If you think the fair looks familiar you’re probably right: it’s been featured in Oscar-winning The Theory of Everything, Paddington 2, Call the Midwife and other television dramas, shows and music videos. Fairground owner Joby Carter will be offering a free guided tour around the fair sharing the history of the rides and the painting techniques they have used to restore the rides. This tour offers a unique chance to see the fair and the beautiful artwork up close. Visitors are encouraged to take photos, draw or sketch as they go around the fair. Although aimed at adults, if there are children that would enjoy hearing the talk then they are welcome to join too, suggested age is 8+. Getting there The fair is at Holyport Green, Maidenhead and is open to the public 11am to 10pm on Saturday and Sunday 11-7pm with free entry all day and free fireworks on the Saturday. Calling all #Maidenhead art and history lovers! This weekend we are running our first 'Fairground Art and Steam Fair history tour' in Maidenhead. Our rides date from the 1890s to the 1960s and you'll hear about how we have rescued and restored these beautiful vintage rides. This is a unique chance to join fairground owner Joby on a FREE 1 hour guided tour around the fair before it opens on Saturday at Holyport Green.
