About Cartridges Law

A friendly successful set of solicitors in Exeter with strong roots in our local community & a flexible and practical approach to our clients' needs.

Cartridges Law Description

We are a friendly and highly successful set of solicitors in Exeter, Devon with strong roots in our local community and a flexible and practical approach to our clients' needs. Our aim is to provide a different kind of legal service which is less formal and more approachable while remaining completely professional and achieving excellent results for our clients.

We started up in 1973. We were the first firm in Exeter to open outside the city centre where law firms normally congregate. Our policy then as now is to avoid the stuffy traditional image of the lawyer and adopt a friendly accessible style.

In our view the buck stops with us. We do not delegate. We do not employ large numbers of non-qualified staff. We are a small team of highly qualified professionals who specialise in their chosen areas of expertise.

We think you want a quality personal service but at the right price. Before we start working on your case we will agree with you:

exactly what needs to be done
by whom
the fee or how it is calculated.
We will also explore whether you are eligible for legal aid; we are Quality Mark specialists in family law, personal injury and housing under legal aid franchises from the Legal Aid Agency.

We are accredited with the Lexcel Quality Mark by the Law Society. This shows that we meet high standards in the way the firm is managed. We are checked each year to ensure we are continuing to work to those standards of excellence.

If you think you may want us to act for you why not contact us for an initial appraisal at no cost.

Areas of Law we cover:

Family
Housing
Personal Injury
Civil Litigation
Conveyancing
Wills and Probate
Employment
Business

Sole applicants can now apply for a parental order, which transfers legal parenthood after a surrogacy arrangement. Previously, only couples were eligible to apply.

What will you "takeaway" from Seaborne Freight's cut and paste gaffe ...
Last year, the business team presented to local business owners on the importance of up to date terms and conditions. On average businesses will only check for discrepancies every 4.5 years and 88/100 of businesses will be trading under insufficient terms.

Partner of Cartridges Law, Penny Scott explains in this article in The Guardian how “More and more parents are losing touch with their children for various reasons. If there’s a conflict about children, it’s quite difficult for people to take that on unrepresented. Despite the increase in litigants in person … there are fewer and fewer [people] going to court because they can’t face it.” Read the full article here:
