Castle Acre: Castle Acre Priory

Castle acre is a great place to visit. if you don't live near I'd recommend stopping there on a way somewhere near, since it only takes 1-2hours to see. We have stopped there on our way from Cambridge to Cromer. The village itself is already very charming, the castle consists mainly of earthworks but the priory is greatly kept and very interesting. I have a soft spot for all these ruins that allow you on floors and into rooms.

A great little ruined Castle and Priory in Norfolk . The castle ruins are free and well worth a wonder around. Nice pub and tearooms in the village as well

Priory, castle, quiant pretty village , picture postcard ford Cristal clear water , good veiw of castle / priory from beautiful walkways.

Brilliant wee place. Amazing ruins and some brilliant remains. Check out the Prior's Chapel, which is hidden up a dark spiral staircase and offers beautiful examples of paintwork and fireplaces. Also check out the latrine area, just as an example of fantastic medieval engineering.

Fascinating place. Full of history. Beautiful grounds. An excellent day out.

Very interesting area with lovely bits of ruins. Lots of interesting nooks and crannies to explore. There is also interesting other ruins very near by, including a castle with lots of earthworks and some walls. The Village has interesting bits as well. It was a lovely afternoon visit probably took us 3 or 4 hours to walk around most of the Priory and castle. We drove through the village and the town gate.
