Castle Howard Lakeside Holiday Park
Reviews
I have visited this site on a number of occasions and have always found the staff to be helpful and friendly. The shower block is thoroughly cleaned, regularly, and I have not had any cause for concern or complaint.
4-night stay (tent, July 2017). 2 large groups were camping in the same field. The 1st group, an extended family, erected a space-station of extended canvas and the noise levels were excessive. The 2nd were a religious group who thought it their God-given right to twang guitars and sing VERY fervently until very late (and also very early). No intervention by Lakeside staff. Lakeside market themselves as a tranquil site with lots of peace and quiet. No so, due to their turn-a-blind-eye approach to enforcing camp standards. The shower block was dirty. Lots of dead insects in the light fittings, plenty of live ones in all areas and used sticking plasters stuck to the floor not removed during our time there. Castle Howard is a fantastic place but their name should not be associated with this site. The campsite does NOT reflect the standards attained in the main house and associated catering outlets. Come again? Not if you paid me. Avoid!!
Beautiful setting. Peaceful and relaxing. Plenty to do in the area.
Quiet, well ran with good facilities and access.
